Disclosing to someone that you've experienced sexual and/or domestic violence can be hard. Supporting someone who has had that experience can be extremely difficult, too. Listening is often one of the best ways to support a survivor.
▪Tell the survivor you believe them. Thank them for trusting you to share about their experience.
▪Assure the survivor they did not do anything wrong. Communicate with empathy!
▪Avoid judgement while the survivor processes their experience and works toward healing from trauma.
▪Be knowledgable about resources you can share with survivors (check out our highlights and Local Resources posts about specific organizations!)
▪Assure the survivor they are not alone; there are people who care for them that want to help!

Survivors of domestic & sexual violence often experience physical, emotional, and spiritual pain & trauma.
Psychological effects of domestic & sexual violence include:
▪️Isolation & withdrawal
▪️Feelings of shame & guilt
▪️Problems sleeping
▪️Avoidance of certain places or people
▪️Suicidal thoughts or actions
We cannot professionally diagnose, but can provide referrals and recommendations to various biblical-integrated counseling services in the Lincoln and Saint Joseph areas!
When you order from TSP, 20% of your order goes to support survivors of domestic & sexual violence. This looks like financial and/or supply donations to local organizations.
If there is a specific organization near and dear to your heart you would like to financially support with your order, leave a comment on your order and we'll direct the funds their way! ❤🌿
