¡VIVA LA VIRGEN DE LORETO!

The Sampaloc district of Manila celebrates today, the feast of their Mother and Patroness, Nuestra Señora de Loreto.

This 410 years old ivory image of the Virgin has been widely venerated within the area, and continues to be more propagated within the country through the many miracles attributed to Her intercession, particularly, against fire incidents, and for guidance among students and teachers.

The Church of the Virgin of Loreto was built in 1613 by Spanish Franciscan priests under Fr. Blas de la Madre de Dios on the site surrounded by lush Sampaloc trees. It was made into a parish that same year, along with the enshrinement of the Marian image of Our Lady of Loreto. A convent was built near the church in 1621 which served as the first home of the congregation of Poor Clares in the country led by Mother Jeronima de la Asuncion before they moved to Intramuros later that year.

The ivory image recently received an Episcopal Coronation last December 1, by the authority of the Archbishop of Manila, His Excellency, Jose F. Advincula, D.D.

A Confraternity of Our Lady of Lourdes was established in the Church of the Virgin of Loreto, and is currently headed by Sis. Lulu Carriazo, hence, we send our warm greetings to our brothers and sisters in the Confraternity of Our Lady of Lourdes at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Loreto Network, as well as all the devotees and parishioners!

𝓜y Lord Jesus Christ, true God and true Man, my King and my Redeemer, in whom I believe and hope, and whom I love above all things; I humbly prostrate before thy Divine Majesty. I beg pardon for all my sins and ingratitude with which I have offended thee. I know, oh Lord, that I am unworthy to appear in thy presence, therefore, I come to thee through thy most beloved Mother, whom I beseech to intercede and to obtain for me the remission of all my sins, which I detest with my whole heart. And I firmly resolve, by your grace, not to commit them again, Amen.

𝓞 Mary Immaculate, Blessed Virgin of Lourdes, desiring to make this novena with the greatest devotion of my soul, and to answer the call that you made to all your children in the person of the humble Bernadette. I kneel at your feet to listen attentively to your voice, to make known my necessities and to seek your powerful protection. Do not refuse me, my Mother, on account of my unworthiness. Look only at the repentance that I feel for having wounded your maternal heart and renewed the passion of your most beloved Son. 𝓜ary Immaculate! I humbly beseech you, to obtain that our faith be everyday increase more and more. And that you obtain a beam of divine light for those who sit in the darkness of infidelity. Propagate the Kingdom of God over the world, banish all errors from us, so that the people of our country may make it their constant glory to live in the faith of your most beloved Son, and remain united to the Holy Roman Church until the hour of death.

I make this request with humility, reciting the following Hail Mary’s and invocations;

𝓘mmaculate Lady and my Mother! By the love you showed to the world, deigning to appear in the rustic grotto to teach the young and happy Bernadette, I beseech you to grant me a share in the same great joy. And as you, oh Lady, caused a rich spring of crystal and health giving waters to gush forth, obtain that your Divine Son may pour upon my soul, the sweetest and most fruitful water of grace to extinguish the love of earthly things, and to cleanse my sinful heart so that I may be worthy of the most pure joys of heaven, Amen.

“AKO ANG INMACULADA CONCEPCION”

Ang Birhen na mismo ang nagpakilala bilang ang Inmaculada Concepcion sa ating lahat noong ika-25 ng Marso, 1858, sa pamamagitan ni Santa Bernardita Soubirous, na ngayo’y atin ding binibigyang pansin dahil ngayong araw ay ang ika-90 na anibersaryo ng kanyang pagiging “Santa”.

Sa katunayan, ang titulong “Lourdes” ay bigay lamang ng mga kinatawan ng Simbahang Katolika sa pamumuno ni Papa Pio IX, sa isang decree noong ika-1 ng Pebrero, 1876, kung saan pinapatunayan na ang mga aparisyon ng Mahal na Birhen sa bayan ng Lourdes, bansang France, kay Bernardita Soubirous, ay karapat dapat na paniwalaan ng lahat ng mga mananampalataya, kung kaya’t binigay ang titulong “Nuestra Señora de Lourdes” sa Mahal na Birhen, upang alalahanin ang mga mahimalang pagpapakita niya sa grotto ng Massabielle.

Katulad ng kanyang mga aparisyon sa Mexico, kung saan nagpakita ang Mahal na Ina sa tito ni Juan Diego na noo’y nasa bingit na ng kamatayan, at pinakilala niya ang sarili bilang “La Virgen de Guadalupe”, at sa Fatima, Portugal, kung saan pinakilala ng Birhen ang kanyang sarili bilang ang “Birhen ng Santo Rosario”, ngayong araw ay pinaalalahanan muli tayo ng Mahal na Ina sa kanyang titulo bilang ang “Inmaculada Concepcion”; ang kanyang ginamit na pangalan noong siya’y tinanong muli ni Bernardita.

Kung talagang nagdedebosyon tayo sa Mahal na Birhen ng Lourdes, hindi natin ito kailanman kalilimutan, sapagkat sa titulong ito mismo siya’y nagpakilala sa ating lahat.

Sa paglipas nitong araw na ito, ang dakilang kapistahan ng Kalinis-linisang paglilihi sa Mahal na Birheng Maria, kay gandang balikan ang pagpapakilala niyang ito sa ating lahat bilang ang “Inmaculada Concepcion”; isang simpleng titulong madali nang unawain, hindi nagreresulta ng anumang isyu, at ang Ina ng Diyos na din mismo ang gumamit upang siya’y ating alalahanin at papurihan, at higit sa lahat, bigyang halaga ang kanyang pagpapakita sa Lourdes.

Today, we celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Canonization of Saint Bernadette Soubirous, the visionary of Lourdes.

Pope Pius XI beatified her on June 14, 1925, and canonized her on December 8, 1933.

It is fitting for her to be canonized on the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, since the Virgin introduced Herself to Her as the Immaculate Conception.

May Saint Bernadette continue to pray for us and inspire us to become humble and simple, and always be our role model as we continue to devote ourselves to the Immaculate Conception, the Virgin of Lourdes.

Mass Schedules for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the most Blessed Virgin Mary tomorrow, December 8.

It is a 𝐇𝐎𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐎𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍, meaning, every Catholic is required to celebrate the Holy Eucharist.

Tomorrow, we will also have the 𝐑𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of the new members of the Archconfraternity of Our Lady of Lourdes during the 12:00 noon Mass.

Marahil upang ipaalala sa atin na:

1) Patuloy na namamangha si Maria sa lahat ng bagay na ginawa sa kanya ng Makapangyarihang Diyos. Patuloy siyang umaawit ng kanyang Magnificat (Lk 1:46-55). Kaya naman isang imbitasyon sa ating mga titingin sa kanya na awitin ang papuri sa Diyos for all the blessings that we have... that we receive. Focus ka nalang sa blessings mo, huwag na sa blessings ng iba. MAMANGHA KA RIN TULAD NI MARIA.

2) Huwag kay Maria matatapos ang tingin. Itinuturo tayo ng kanyang mga mata paitaas, patungo sa Diyos na may gawa ng langit at lupa. Hindi ba't lahat ng debosyon natin kay Maria ay 'Christocentric' (Si Kristo ang sentro) dapat? Kung ang debosyon mo kay Maria ay hindi nagdadala sa iyo kay Hesus, baka naman hindi ka nag-ggrow sa'yong pagkilala sa Ina ng 'Diyos'? SI KRISTO ANG SENTRO NG LAHAT NG DEBOSYON KAY MARIA. BAKA PURO KA MARIA AT SI HESUS WALA NA. "AD IESUM PER MARIAM"

3) Dito pa lang sa lupa, magsimula na tayong mamuhay ng makalangit. "Our citizenship is in heaven" sabi ni Apostol San Pablo (Fil 3:20). Kaya naman tulad ni Maria, ang mamuhay ng makalangit ay ang matutong sundin ang kalooban ng Diyos araw-araw. Hindi lang pag comfortable ka. Segu-segundo, minu-minuto, oras-oras, araw-araw. Sa lumbay, sa iyak, sa hapis, sa tuwa, sa ligaya, sa sarap ng buhay, maging bukas sa kalooban ng Diyos. SUMUNOD, MAGTIWALA, MATUTO KANG MAGING HUMBLE.

4) Ang hantungan natin ay Langit. Hindi ka forever dito lupa. Lahat lilipas, lahat mawawala, Diyos lamang ang naiiwan at natitira (Santa Teresa ng Avila). Kaya naman ang isang Hot Air Balloon, para tumaas kailangang magbawas ng timbang. Eh ikaw, paano ka aakyat kung puno ka ng galit, sama ng loob, inis, bisyo, at iba pa? Gayahin ang Hot Air Balloon, magbawas ng timbang upang umakyat paitaas. Sabi ni Beato Carlo Acutis, mangumpisal upang mawala ang mga kasalanang nagpapabigat sa ating biyahe paakyat sa langit. LILIPAS KA RIN. MAWAWALA KA RIN. HINDI IKAW ANG FOREVER. ISA LANG ANG FOREVER: ANG DIYOS NA NAGMAMAHAL SA'YO.
