Did you know that asparagus is rich in folate, which is a mineral that is required for normal cell formation of the red (RBC) and white blood cells (WBC) within the bone marrow, and it helps break down the destructive amino acid homocysteine, which is associated with scarring and narrowing of the blood vessels, which can contribute to heart disease. Cool things!
It's also a great source of fiber.
Garlic also contains an amino acid called Alliin, which is an unstable sulfur-based compound that starts going to work when the garlic is chopped, sliced, or crushed. Alliin interacts with the enzyme Alliance to create Allicin, one of the most medicinal and health-promoting compounds available. Allicin assists the activity of the other antioxidants in garlic and supports the immune system in helping fight off viruses and harmful bacteria.
