Post Election Diary;INEC-ELECTORAL UMPIRE.

When Prof Mahmud was appointed the Inec chairman by the present government, a lot of people felt he should be given are chance been A Professor of History from an American university, he would bring his experience to bear,considering the void left by his former.
Looking back at the Elections so far organized by INEC with the professor in charge,it would not be out of place to say that the Prof has not covered himself in glory.First,it started with the postponement of the presidential election owing to logistical failure,showing ill preparedness.Other Factors that affected the elections include:poor training & remuneration of ad hoc officials,Challenges caused by Card readers, internal corruption & infiltration by politicians,Underaged voting,shortage of materials, just to mention are few.
I observed from a distance in one of the troubled areas in Lagos Okota to be precise as thugs operated with wreckless abandon,disrupting elections because it was clear it was nt going to be in its favor,it was easy for the security personnel present to run for their lives.This brings to question the issue of staggered elections just to allow for proper and efficient policing.INEC independence is key if we have to make meaniful progress."The story of the piper and the payer"
Billions of Naira was spent to print ballot papers yet part of the instruction INEC gave its officials where the confistication and destruction of unused ballot papers.Can INEC give us an account of spent and unspent funds?This movement expects that with the kind of money appropriated to INEC,an independent Audit panel should be invited to audit the account of INEC for accountable and prudence.Most of the shortcomings observed in our view were deliberate plan on the part of the ruling class,and. some INEC officials to favor a particular party.corruption in the system greatly affected the elections,monies easily exchanged hands.The question in the minds of many is, Where do we go from here?questions upon questions begging for answers.

An acclaimed Business mogul,who a lot of people believe is the right man for the job owing to his loyalty and popularity as been the leader of the PDM,and also the Turaki of Adamawa.Not much can be said of his ideology as an individual or that of his party in bringing succour to the lives of the ordinary citizen, considering the fact that they ve' also had opportunity at the topmost position of the country with billions made from the sale of crude,and increase in Nigeria s foreign reserve.
Even though we have close to 100 political parties,all the other parties lack the structure, and financial muscle to compete.The permutations and calculations continue, with the Masses at mercy of the ruling class.
