While inspecting this 2nd story deck, we noticed the posts were poorly attached. This is especially dangerous because of the height. Workmen removed the posts with a firm push. New York State made a new law affecting mold remediation and mold inspectors, they are now required to be licensed. Completed the course and took my test today for state licensing as a Mold Assessor. After January 1st you will not be able to do any mold remediation without an assessors report first being filed.

Household Myth: Laundry bleach is the best product to get rid of mold.

EPA researchers compared 12 over-the-counter cleaning products with diluted household bleach. They used each product to clean the mold on individual samples of painted and bare gypsum drywall. Then they stored the samples under ideal mold growing conditions and monitored them to see how much mold returned. Diluted bleach scored the worst on bare (unpainted) drywall. It fared better on painted drywall, but not as well as the leading cleaning product, full-strength Lysol All-Purpose Cleaner Orange Breeze. The researchers also tested the cleaners on wallpapered samples and mold-inhibiting paints.

A massage therapist washed the sheets after using oils for a client. Investigators say oils remained in the cloth and ignited with the heat of the dryer.
