FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DENVER, COLORADO - In a bold move to protect our Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights, the Colorado Republican Party, partnering with State Representative Scott Bottoms, initiated legal proceedings against radical Democrat House Speaker Julie McCluskie and Governor Jared Polis to block the implementation of House Bill 23B-1002.
The contentious bill, which unfairly expands the earned income tax credit with TABOR surplus, while expanding benefits to illegal aliens, has been challenged for violating the state constitution during the special session in November.
The bill was hurriedly passed in violation of the Colorado Constitution, and Rep. Bottoms will prove that his attempts to speak out against the legislation during the special session were stifled, leading to the filing of a lawsuit seeking a judicial declaration that the law is null and void.
“The House of Representatives has become so partisan that it has actually become the norm to break rules and lead unconstitutionally. Speaker McCluskie has become unhinged and incapable of leading the House of Representatives. She attacks anyone that disagrees with her while specifically focusing her attacks on me regularly,” said Rep. Bottoms.
In a significant demonstration of unity, the Colorado Republican Party, under the leadership of Chairman Dave Williams and Rep. Scott Bottoms, have assembled a coalition of diverse groups to support their efforts in the legal battle.
The coalition includes the Colorado Libertarian Party, the Colorado Liberty Scorecard, the Colorado Union of Taxpayers, the Colorado TABOR Foundation, and the Colorado Hispanic Republicans.
"We believe in the fundamental principles of defending taxpayer rights and upholding the constitution. By joining forces with these like-minded groups, we are sending a clear message that we will not stand idly by while the rights of Colorado taxpayers are trampled upon," stated Chairman Williams.
However, it's worth noting that some notable organizations, such as Advance Colorado, the Independence Institute, and the Colorado Senate Republicans, have refused to fight against the radical Democrats from raiding $182 million dollars when asked to do so. Despite their vocal opposition to the bill during media appearances, when push comes to shove, these groups refused to defend the taxpayers, opting instead to pay lip service in front of a camera or audience.
"We find it disappointing that certain organizations, which claimed to champion TABOR rights, have chosen not to actively participate in this crucial legal battle. While they were quick to voice their concerns in the media, actions speak louder than words when it comes to defending taxpayers and our TABOR surplus," remarked Chuck Bonniwell, Colorado Republican Party Legal Affairs Vice-Chairman.
The Colorado Republican Party welcomes Advance Colorado, the Independence Institute, and the Colorado Senate Republicans to join the coalition if they decide to reconsider their stance and actively aid in the fight against this unconstitutional bill that attacks TABOR.
As the legal battle unfolds, the coalition remains committed to upholding the principles of the Colorado Constitution and ensuring the rights of taxpayers are protected.
COALITION PARTNER QUOTES
*We will add more statements from coalition partners as they are provided.
Colorado Union of Taxpayers Statement (Kim Monson):
"Every day, hardworking Coloradans trust and expect that our elected representatives and governor honor and abide by our Constitution. This is a non-partisan issue. During the 2023 Colorado Special Session, the Colorado House and Senate unconstitutionally passed and the Governor signed a bill that expanded the Earned Income Tax Credit using Coloradan’s TABOR refunds. Rep. Scott Bottoms is bringing forth a lawsuit to protect the people of Colorado and to protect our Colorado Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR). TABOR is an amendment to the Colorado Constitution that was voted on and approved by the people of Colorado in 1992. Colorado Union of Taxpayers (CUT) stands in firm support of Rep. Bottoms' efforts to uphold the Colorado Constitution and the Rule of Law."
TABOR Foundation (Penn Pfiffner):
"The TABOR Foundation firmly believes that the defendants in this case willfully ignored Representative Scott Bottoms’ constitutional right expressed in Article V, Section 22. These actions prevented Representative Bottoms’ ability to represent constituents and taxpayers in Colorado. Governor Polis and
House Speaker McCluskie must stand before the court and disclose and account for their actions, otherwise, their disparaging treatment towards the electors and taxpayers of Colorado will only continue to step further outside the lines of the laws of Colorado."
Colorado Hispanic Republicans (Raymond Garcia):
"What a refreshing change it is to have actual Republican leadership in the Republican party again. We are very proud of Dave Williams for this latest lawsuit against the State of Colorado, over the earned income tax credit expansion bill that was unconstitutionally passed (pushed through) during the special session of Colorado state congress. Mere weeks after the Colorado voters rejected these very same proposals. This is what real leadership looks like! Republicans being Republican again. Standing up and fighting to protect TABOR (The Taxpayer Bill of Rights) Standing up and fighting for Colorado taxpayers! We are very proud to be a part of this coalition, and very proud to stand with Dave Williams and the COGOP in the fight to protect Colorado Taxpayers."

Keep Trump on the Colorado Ballot
President Donald J. Trump personally called state GOP Chairman Dave Williams after the Fox & Friends interview on Friday morning to discuss the appeal to the US Supreme Court.
President Trump complimented our state chairman on all the good press interviews defending him while thanking him for the hard work accomplished with our continued court appeal, and, finally, what could accomplish together in Colorado for the 2024 election cycle as voters signal their willingness to reject Democrats for going too far to the left.
They expressed to each other how the fight is far from over and the need to defeat the corrupt Democrats in the court of law and the court of public opinion.

Liberty Scorecard Colorado:
Democratic House Speaker Julie McCluskie Was So Clever! Now she's being sued along with Governor Polis!
Speaker McCluskie thinks rules can be ignored if they get in the way of the Democrats' agenda. In her hurry to pass the expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit that will raid our TABOR refunds of $182.5 million and provide tax credits to people without a valid social security number, she wouldn't allow Rep. Bottoms to have HB23B-1002 read at length, which is his constitutional right as a state legislator.
Rep. Bottoms asked to be recognized from the floor 3 TIMES. He even passed a written request to the House Clerk. All of these attempts were blatantly ignored.
Liberty Scorecard has joined a coalition led by the Colorado Republican Party to have HB23B-1002 nullified. We need to send a strong message to Governor Polis and Democrat leadership that WE'VE HAD ENOUGH!

We have a unique opportunity to put the Democrats in their place and save our TABOR refunds. Please give what you can to help fund this lawsuit. When they stop recognizing the rights of all legislators, the process is corrupt. WE CANNOT LET THIS STAND. For more info please visit:

🇺🇸Updates from Congresswoman Boebert's Campaign🇺🇸
BOEBERT TO SEEK REPUBLICAN NOMINATION
IN COLORADO’S 4th CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
MOVE PROTECTS REPUBLICAN HOUSE MAJORITY AND CONSERVATIVE REPRESENTATION FOR COLORADO
December 27, 2023
COLORADO-- Congresswoman Lauren Boebert announced tonight she will seek the 2024 Republican nomination to represent Colorado’s 4th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives.
Congresswoman Boebert released a video on Facebook addressing her decision which can be viewed here and issued the following statement:
"My mission has always been and will always be to defend our freedoms and defeat the Democrat socialists and communists so we can take our country back, but that mission does not take place in a vacuum either personally or professionally.
"Personally, this announcement is a fresh start following a difficult year for me and my family. I cannot put into words how grateful I am for everyone who has steadfastly stood alongside me in the 3rd District and across America. The relationships we have cultivated over the past few years are deeply cherished and unbreakable.
"I did not arrive at this decision easily. A lot of prayer, a lot of tough conversations, and a lot of perspective have convinced me this is the best way I can continue to fight for Colorado, for the conservative movement, for my kids’ future, and for the future of this great country.
"Professionally, Colorado’s 4th District is hungry for an unapologetic defender of freedom with a proven track record of standing strong for conservative principles. I love Colorado’s 3rd District and I will continue working as hard as I can for the remainder of my term to be a great Representative for the district.
"But I also spent years living on the Front Range and years representing Rural America. The 3rd and the 4th Congressional Districts comprise nearly 85% of Colorado’s footprint and have less than 20 people per square mile. Rural America deserves a strong voice that fights for their freedoms.
"The American people are struggling with groceries, inflation, credit card debt, and other monthly expenses that were fueled by Biden’s spending spree. I know all too well how damaging the liberals have been to our entire state. I will be moving to the 4th in 2024 and will continue to take my conservative fight directly to them.
"This move also helps stop Hollywood elites and national progressive groups from buying the 3rd District. They aren’t pouring millions into the 3rd District based on policy differences, they are pouring it in because they know what a threat I am to their liberal agenda. I will not allow dark-money that is directed at destroying me to steal this seat. It’s not fair to the 3rd District and the conservatives there who have fought so hard for our victories, of which I’m incredibly grateful.
"I am confident this move will allow Colorado to have stronger conservative representation in the U.S. House to help President Donald J. Trump enact an America First agenda in 2025, protect our House majority, elect Republicans at every level of government, and allow us to focus on defeating the Democrats in 2024."

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold has announced that, for the time being, she will include 45th President Donald J. Trump on the Colorado GOP primary ballot.
On Thursday, Griswold stated that Trump’s name will not be removed from the ballot unless the highest court, the U.S. Supreme Court, affirms the ruling and states that his name must be removed from the presidential ballot.

Colorado Politics:
In a stunning move, U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert on Wednesday night announced that she plans to run next year for the seat held by retiring fellow Republican Ken Buck in Colorado's 4th Congressional District, rather than seek reelection in the district she barely won last year.
A Silt Republican serving her second term, Boebert joins a crowded GOP primary field in the heavily Republican neighboring district, which covers Douglas County and parts of Larimer and Weld counties, as well as much of the Eastern Plains.
Boebert won reelection last year by just 546 votes in the Western Slope-based 3rd District, which leans toward Republicans by 9 percentage points. The 4th District, whicih is more favorable toward Republicans, prefers GOP candidates by 27 points, according to a nonpartisan analysis prepared by Colorado's redistricting commission.
Buck announced in November that he isn't seeking a sixth term.
"My mission has always been and will always be to defend our freedoms and defeat the Democrat socialists and communists so we can take our country back, but that mission does not take place in a vacuum either personally or professionally," Boebert said in a statement.
"I did not arrive at this decision easily. A lot of prayer, a lot of tough conversations, and a lot of perspective have convinced me this is the best way I can continue to fight for Colorado, for the conservative movement, for my kids’ future, and for the future of this great country."
Boebert said the move "helps stop Hollywood elites and national progressive groups from buying the 3rd District," claiming that her detractors are pouring millions of dollars into defeating her not over of policy differences but because she threatens the liberal agenda.

🇺🇸Message from the CO State GOP Chair, Dave Williams🇺🇸
Tomorrow at the Capital! Stand up to partisan hack judges who hate President Trump.
Democrats can’t beat President Trump at the ballot box, so they have resorted to law-fare and communist country tactics to cheat and steal another election.
Have you had enough discrimination against Republicans from partisan hack judges and Colorado’s Soros-funded Secretary of State Jena Griswold?
Join us tomorrow at the Colorado Supreme Court, 1300 Lincoln Street, Denver, at 2PM to rally for fair ballot access and to show Colorado that we mean business. We WILL win at SCOTUS. And if we do not get the outcome we need soon enough, we will move to a pure caucus system so that delegates who choose President Trump will have their voice heard.
For more information call or text Darcy Schoening at (630) 796-5885.
We will keep fighting and appeal this all the way to SCOTUS. Share this email and the details.

Dave Williams and Hope Scheppelman had the chance to speak with NEWSMAX once again Sunday morning.
We already knew the democrars were bad on the economy and on crime. But now we know their corruption has no limits. They are so hellbent on holding on to power, they are even willing to destroy our most sacred freedom, the right to vote.
The US Supreme Court will of course overturn this attempt by the democrats in this state to steal the election away from the voters. But we must remove this Democrat cartel from power...legally, by exercising our right to vote.

Thank you Congresswoman Lauren Boebert for stepping up and speaking out about tyrannical lefts regimen …. The democratic party in Colorado is acting more like a cartel than a political party.

“The liberal Colorado Supreme Court kicking President Trump off the primary ballot is election interference and a move of pure fear.
They’ve put politics ahead of the Constitution.
The people celebrating this misguided action have no idea how dangerous this is for our Republic.
We are going to fight back and I’m confident that the Supreme Court will overturn this awful decision.” Congresswoman Lauren Boebert
We support our neighbor party Colorado GOP and their action to protect the voting rights of Republicans within their state.
The Colorado Supreme Court's decision to remove Donald J. Trump from the primary ballot is an attempt at voter suppression and election subversion.
