"LAMB." Self Portrait 2/4/2015

It's been over 2 year since I last posted on my Flickr.
"When will you create something new?"
I get this question a lot, especially when I post one of my old self portraits on my instagram ().
I simply don't have the time, at least not enough to create the things I like, only time to create **** like this..
I only have two hours a day and a body that's not functioning the way it should.
I am a mother, mothering full time, and I love it more than I could ever imagine, but, yes there's a but, I miss shooting, a lot.
But it's not just simply point and shoot, I need to do my make-up, I need to prepare my lighting (In the living room since I don't have a studio anymore), I have to get my tripod ready, camera settings, and so on, it takes me an hour at least. So the whole process all together takes so much effort and the most important thing of all: I need a good shot.
I don't feel like 1 hour of shooting (don't forget I'm the photographer and model at the same time) is enough, and when Flynn's asleep at night I'm just too pooped. Not to mention the time my head needs to create, before I had days where I could think about nothing else but a picture.

"Why don't you bring him to daycare?"
Because bringing him there takes energy, and that's about all the energy my body has.

But there's something else. I'm not comfortable in my old skin anymore. I just grew out of it I guess...
Not literal, I mean that's not what I'm trying to say ;), it's psychical, I'm no longer the person I was in 2008/2009 when I started (thank god not), so in order to go on and take self portraits again I need to get rid of that once so cosy coat, I need to throw it off and start over, bare skin, new vision, who am I now? What do I want? What do I desire? What do I like or dislike? Just me and my camera and time, time, time, time.

Today 5 years ago I took the last photo of the hardest and most beautiful project I ever did;
my project 365.

Vandaag 5 jaar geleden maakte ik de laatste foto in het mooiste project dat ik ooit deed, mijn 365 dagen project. Elke dag, een jaar lang, een zelfportret maken. Het was een moeilijk proces, gekweld door de demonen van de ergste depressie die ik tot nu had. Een zoektocht naar mezelf. Het bracht me uiteindelijk zo zo zo zoveel meer dan ik ooit had kunnen bedenken toen. Ik ben daar nog steeds dankbaar voor. Het kunnen delen met de wereld, de respons die ik kreeg, de kansen die ik kreeg.
