This is what we love about engagement sessions: they can be anything you want.

When you think of engagement sessions, you probably think about mandatory photos of you in a field. You may also be thinking about Prime shipping a flowy dress. But no one ever said it had to be that.

Engagement sessions might be our favorite thing to photograph. It lets us get to know you before your wedding, removing all awkward introductions on your wedding day (because who wants to meet someone for the first time while getting dressed?!). Engagement sessions are also an excellent opportunity to take the type of photos that you always wish you had. Capturing the small, casual moments of your everyday life, like the way you look at each other on a coffee date.

Don’t get us wrong, we love a field. A field with a view? Killer. So why not do both? What if we started our afternoon with a coffee date, danced around the town, and headed to a beautiful winery for sunset?
It’s super possible to be yourself AND get the classic engagement photos your grandparents want to hang on their fridge. So let’s plan a date!

Strong start to the week

No one is stopping you from traveling across the country for your engagement session. You could literally go on a cross-country road trip to play in sand dunes whenever. Just text us before you get on the road, and we will meet you there!

Whenever we take photos we love, captioning the image suddenly becomes impossible. We originally wanted to make this caption with something clever about Dune 2 (not sponsored) but couldn’t come up with anything that wasn’t too hard to understand or cheesy. At a loss, we Googled “dune puns.” Let me tell you, they were not funny. Definitely a hole in the market there if anyone wants to jump on it.

It’s funny to feel like your work is cooler than you, but when we look back at the amazing adventures our photography has taken us on, we are just in awe.

E+C flew into Seattle a few days before their elopement to select the details for their wedding picnic. They made a day of antique shopping and found the perfect plates, cups, and candle sticks. This is the ideal solution for eloping couples who are flying to their elopement destination!

When planning their engagement session M+M wanted to go somewhere special to their relationship. This is always fun for us because we get to go to places we may not have gone to on our own. We don’t end up in cities a lot, but when we do, that sunset light on the skyline gets us every time ☀️

How do you take a timeless photo? 📸
It is so important to us that we take photos that feel timeless. But what does "timeless" even mean? It's hard to guess in the moment what will stand the test of time, but our best guess is to create images that have the feeling of your day. Trends change, and your style will evolve, but looking back at your gallery should put you right back in that moment, celebrating the best day of your life 🎉..and having the photos in black + white doesn't hurt 😘

Wanderings will have one everlasting collection full of our favorites available year-round and one limited edition series that rotates by season. Our first limited series, “Evergreen,” is a mini-series that will be available until December 31st. After that, a new series will take its place.

This is something we’ve been working on for a while and are super excited to share. We have big plans for Wanderings, and the journey is just getting started.

Memories look best in grainy black + white

Since August, we’ve driven over 13,000 miles, traveled to 27 states, and taken more photos than we could count. You could say that busy season has been busy, and oh my gosh have we had the best time.

For the next little bit, we will be in our editing cave, as we finish up these stunning galleries and videos. We can’t wait to share all that we’ve seen and celebrated 🎉

There’s a familiar buzz in the air on a wedding day. People are full of a loving energy, time simultaneously flys by and stands perfectly still, and Sweet Caroline is played during the reception. Hands touching hands, reaching out, touching me, touching youuuu ✨

Earth tones or bright colors? 🌺
We are always torn by our love and commitment to earth tones and our need for bright and unique florals. Our feed was feeling too neutral, so we had to mix it up with bright florals. Many couples stay away from color, especially when it comes to flowers, but colorful florals are one of our favorite things to photograph.

We always get asked if we still take senior and grad photos. We do! A while back, we gave our portrait photos their own little home over at ING Studios - Portraits. But sometimes we have a session that feels a bit more like our main account, and this adventurous senior session does just that! We spent the afternoon running through dunes as we watched the sunset over the city of Las Vegas. ☀️

Went for the sand, stayed for the snow ❄️
When we originally were planning Shian + Andrew’s engagement we had dreams of warm sunlight and golden sand, but nature had other plans. This surprise blanket of snow made for an amazing adventure and weekend of memories we will never forget!

All day breakfast 🧇
We are breakfast people. While we travel Tim is quick to point out abandoned old buildings he wants to fix up into community driven coffee shops that serve, you guessed it, all day breakfast. We have zero actual intentions to ever go into restaurants, but that doesn’t stop us from fully hashing out details on imaginary breakfast spots as we travel across the country. 🥞

In February we go to Vegas 🎉
For the last several years we have made a February road trip out west and landed in Las Vegas. We love that strange desert city and couldn’t be more excited to be headed back in just a few days!
As part of our February Vegas tradition, we’ve captured yearly photos of Emma Grace + Boyd. We can’t wait to see our friends and celebrate their growing family💕
