The June inflation report tomorrow is expected to show it down to 3.1%. This is still too high but far below the peak of 9.1% in June last year.

With that said, not all inflation reporting is coming down. I bet your insurance cost are up this year right? While overall inflation was at 4% in May, insurance inflation is near 20%.

Why is this?

Automotive maintenance and service cost are up 13.5%. Auto parts are up 4.2%. Medical cost are up 2%. While vehicle prices are down from a peak in January 2022, they are still up 45% since January 2020, right before COVID hit.

You factor in all these prices that are still increasing at these levels in with the inability of insurance companies to pivot and change underwriting practices on the drop of a dime so they are playing catch up still, and you get insurance inflation of just under 20%.

We haven't even talked about all the weather events that have hit the property market.

Bottom line, your home and car insurance cost are going up. Go ahead and be prepared for it when your next renewal comes up. Some companies are even non-renewing their clients.
