Standing up and speaking out against racism and racist practice will cost you. I started doing contract work with Baylor in 2019. I’ve had thoughts and even hopes of working with student-athletes at Baylor and perhaps even earning a doctoral degree from their Psy.D or Ph.D program. However, I knew my time and those dream would come to an end once we started sharing our story so no hard feelings. Thankful for the experience, but at some point you have to stand for something or your fall for anything...as the old adage goes 🤷🏾♂️

We wear this shirt for healing.
We are wear this shirt for George.
We wear this for Botham.
We wear this for Ahmaud.
We wear this shirt for Breonna.
We wear this shirt for healing.
We wear this shirt for the African-Americans who’s hearts are bleeding.
Wear this shirt for every tear shed.
We wear this shirt for every cry for help that’s gone unheard.
And for the 400 years of systemic oppression without intervention.
We wear this shirt for healing.
We wear this shirt for those who suffer from Racial Battle Fatigue.
We wear this shirt for the families who have lost so many loved ones by those who took an oath to protect our communities.
We wear this shirt for the many times complaints have gone unheard.
We wear this shirt for those who have operated in fear doing regular everyday activities.
We wear this shirt to restore hope.
We wear this shirt to bring healing.
George, Ahmaud, Breonna- as a result of each one of your untimely and senseless deaths adds a new focus to our practice — HEALING from the unaddressed and ongoing trauma and racism African-Americans experience living in this country. It’s time to heal.
