Poor Kids! It was a rainy day and they were deprived of playing in the open ground. A ground amidst the graveyard that was compact and had just a couple of broken swings and stinking toilet around. Such is the fate of most government aided schools in India. Yet, playing there was a joyous act for the children.

Like any other visit, the King liked many of them and one differently looking sculpture caught his attention.
Here's how the sculpture looked. It had a human body, wings in place of hands and the face was covered. So, it's unseen if the sculpture had the human face or an animal's face or a bird's face or the sculpture is faceless! Puzzled King asks Raman, "What's this?"

There was no playground, so the school did not have any kind of Physical training as part of their curriculum.
This bothered me, immensely.
We were all convinced that a sport or a game intervention for our kids can leverage their energy to achieve physical & mental fitness.
The question was HOW?

"I work in the maintenance department in an electrical company at Bagmane Tech Park. But I am also a father to a lovely daughter, Ashwini. She is a diligent and a self-reliant person who wholeheartedly invests her time in many things. It’s hard to believe that she has a mature understanding of most situations at this age."
"Teach for India has provided education for many children, like my daughter, and keeps up with the quality of education provided in private schools. I’m always delighted when Ashwini comes home and talks to me about the lessons she learnt. Once, when she got back from Chennai, she was amused by the city life there and told me all about it. It makes me immensely happy that she is moving forward in this world. I only pray that she succeeds to achieve her goals."
"Ashwini is one of the two student representatives from Karnataka who is sent to different cities in India for seminars. When they first told me about it, I was apprehensive. But with her teacher’s reassurance, I realized it would be a great opportunity for her. When she returned from her first trip to Delhi, I was convinced that my daughter is confident and will acclimatize to any lifestyle."
"There are a number of NGOs that work hard to help the less privileged. As I see it, it is up to us to make the best out of these opportunities and support them as much as possible, especially as parents. It is also our responsibility to contribute to society in any way possible while reaping the benefits."
"I am a proud father. I am Sharanappa SG."

"Sucking up ( Workplace Flattery)": does it work?
Frequently, in our daily life, people compliment and praise us. When they provide over-exaggerated and dishonest praise, it is called flattery.
It is a very common and widely used technique in an Organization, in order to fulfill ones desire and need.
"Sucking up," "Brown nosing," and "Schmoozing" are the common names given to the workers ingratiation at the workplace. Employees engage in such activities hoping to get an opportunity of getting a desired project, safeguard their career, gain undue control, and for promotion and salary increase.
Reasons of Workplace Flattery:
Some employees are compelled to use such strategies in some organizations; employees who do not have adequate working skills can succeed because they support their supervisor as compared to the employees with greater work skill who do not agree with all the decisions of their supervisor.
Employees try to please their managers by favoring them, so that the manager "feels socially and psychologically obligated to return the personal favor".
The so entrapped managers pay back their favor by rewarding them with a promotion or raising their salary, lenient to their overtures at workplace, which is the primary goal of the flatterer behind the favor.
The Bad and the Ugly of Workplace Flattery:
Mostly, workplace flattery has negative consequences. As employees agree with the manager completely in order to maintain a good relation, sometimes "uncritically" agreeing on important issues can result in unfavorable outcomes. Additionally, excessive flattery can result in "Pervasive dysfunctional culture."
Decisions will not be effective because if employees do not contribute their thoughts and opinions honestly, it will not help to generate various ideas and points of view which will result in a poor output.
Flatteres are prone to low work performance, even though, they overrule those that are genuinely honest and possess the working skill.
Overall the organization suffers as it's objectives are hit severely by such individual interests.
Solution of Workplace Flattery:
' Ethical Leadership' is the best possible solution as it hits the predicament at the source.
Discuss, debate, elicit opinions on this predicament as it does a 'World of good for Organizations'.
