Thanks to Maury Wrubleski for the great article on Discover Humboldt after an amazing StreetFest weekend!

“It was a fantastic turnout for this weekend’s Humboldt Streetfest, hosted by the Humboldt Downtown BID.

Friday saw plenty of activity at the downtown street vendors with plenty of folks pursuing the wide variety of wares and partaking in edibles from the food trucks.

Friday’s events led up to the mainstage street dance. Director Alyssa Hergott reported around 1,000 paying customers through the gates on Friday night to enjoy the sounds of Codie Prevost, Darryl Anderson, and Humboldt’s own 40 Oz Philosophy.

Saturday’s slate of performers started early with a steady stream of local talent taking the stage. The music went on all day long and provided a backdrop for the vendors and local merchants along Main Street, all of whom enjoyed another steady stream of traffic.

Hat’s off to the organizers of what can only be described as a highly successful Streetfest 2024.”

Thank you to volunteers, sponsors, business, the city, and the community for making this such a success.

You may have noticed work being done on the south side Boulevards on Main St. - we have teamed up with City of Humboldt - Municipal Government to make some improvements! Last year they were levelled and filled in with gravel - this year we are going to add some paving stones in front of our downtown businesses and organizations, and eventually add some decorative pieces and signage.

A special thanks to Community Leisure Services - City of Humboldt for working with us on this project!

Boulevards impacted are in front of Colony Chevrolet GMC Buick, Humboldt Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28, A-List Dance & Acrobatics, Humboldt Good Neighbour Store Inc., Elite Salon and Spa, Tremblay Electric (new PARTNERS Family Services building), Metamorphosis Counselling, Touchwood Interiors, Wongs Restaurant, S.V Stylist

A great overview of our Streetfest 2024 proposal to City Council last night. Thank you Discover Humboldt 107.5 Bolt FM Maury Wrubleski for the excellent coverage!

27/02/2024

Update from our Streetfest proposal to City Council. Our president Alyssa Hergott provided an excellent presentation for closing down Main Street as was done in previous years.

Council did not vote in favour, but rather referred the matter to administration to bring back the proposal with their recommendation to ensure no conflicts. We will keep the community updated as things unfold, but we are optimistic that Streetfest 2024 will happen! Thank you to City of Humboldt - Municipal Government for having us this evening.

26/02/2024

Remember to come out or tune in to the City Council meeting tonight at 5:30 to hear the president of the Humboldt Downtown BID present to council about Streetfest 2024.

Alyssa Hergott will be presenting our proposal to close Main Street to motor vehicle traffic for two days, to have a street dance with a beverage garden and live music, food and goods vendors, sidewalk sales from businesses, bouncy castles, face painting, and other activities!

Streetfest was held over two days on Main Street for many years in Humboldt, and after hearing an overwhelming amount of support and desire to bring this event back, we are excited to propose to make it happen again. Thank you so much to everyone, business owners and community members, that have reached out with support, encouragement, and offers to help!

22/02/2024

We want to thank all of the business owners that have reached out in support of the "old" Streetfest for 2024! Many have asked how they can show support for Streetfest if they cannot make it to the upcoming City Council meeting on February 26th at 5:30 PM.

If you are a business owner or community member that would like to let City Council know that you support our proposed event with the Main Street closures, you can send an email to our Mayor and Council expressing your support:

Dear Mayor & Council,

I want to express my support for the Humboldt Downtown BID's proposed street closures on Main Street and 6th Avenue for Streetfest 2024.

Thank you,

Do you remember when the Downtown BID hosted a street dance during Streetfest? We're planning to do it again! Join us on February 26th at 5:30 at the Humboldt City Council Meeting to support our request to shut down traffic on a portion of Main Street to host our street dance.

Did you know that data shows that reducing traffic for events (and long-term) actually improves business? Businesses on walkable streets without traffic experience higher traffic in their stores, sales, and connection with the community. ✨

*please note this is our street closure proposal; specific events and exact locations are subject to some change
