Imagine This 06/06/2022

During the course of a popular home renovation television program, viewers often hear the host say, “Imagine this!” Then she unveils what could be when old things are restored and drab walls and floors are painted or stained. In one episode, after the renovation, the homeowner was so overjoyed that the words “That’s beautiful!” gushed from her lips three times, along with other expressions of elation.

The senseless murders and shootings we've been witnessing have left many with an empty hole. People are crying out on social media demanding change. The acts that occurred at the elementary school were sickening. Adults and children fell victim to something that they had absolutely nothing to do with. People are taking sides quickly and demanding that NRA be stripped and gun laws are enacted.

Yes, But Do You Know Him? 24/05/2022

So many nonbelievers feel condemned by Christians and I can understand that. They call us judgemental and hateful - all-knowing and hypocrites. I've seen many people claim to be Christians and yet tear people down just to feel better about themselves to call themselves Christian. Just because you go to Church and can quote some scriptures doesn't make you better than anyone let alone a person called by Christ. The devil knows the Bible too.

Yes, But Do You Know Him? So many people in the world say they are Christian, but what does that truly mean? The apostle Paul considered knowing Jesus his most important task: “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider the...

Sharing is Hard 22/05/2022

We bought our boys a new toy car. It was a model for one of our cars. One arrived before the other one. I felt like I should have waited until the other one came before giving them the toy because I didn't want to deal with tantrums and fights. However, we still let them play with it because we love them.

Following Christ does not exempt us from the pain and struggle of everyday life. In fact, we may find our worry and anxiety amplified as we seek to meet the needs of those around us and take on the burdens of those around us. It’s easy to let the difficulties and unknowns of life overwhelm us. While our Earthly lives will never be free from worry, we can find comfort in the promises God has given us through Scripture.

What's Your Passion? 20/05/2022

I'm always seeing videos and articles on how to build sustainable wealth and various streams of income on social media. Has anyone ever said to you "if I had a million dollars I would be happy because I wouldn't have any worries" I usually don't respond when someone says that to me. I will nod and walk away. I understand the dangers money can cause. The Bible says money is the root of all evil.

New Beginnings are Uncomfortable 19/05/2022

Baby number three is here! Birth is rough and my most recent experience was traumatic. I went in ready to deliver and quickly go home, knowing what I was in for. This time, we went to a new hospital and my husband was not thrilled to be going to a different hospital since our prior two experiences were so great elsewhere. From the moment we arrived at the new hospital it was chaotic.

I remember the last conversation I had with my ex. Although it was almost ten years ago, it's still seared into my brain. I had enough, I was tired emotionally and physically. I was simply done and had finally made the decision to leave as others had been urging me to do for years. Calmly, I told him I didn't want to do this any longer, I had met someone that was genuine and kind. Someone who made me feel like I deserved love.

He's Risen 04/04/2021

The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the keystone of the arch of salvation. Remove it and the whole structure of the plan of salvation crumbles in the dust. The good news of the gospel is that Christ died for our sins (1 Cor. 15:3), and that He rose again (v.4). The resurrection of Christ is the proof that His death atoned for sin.

It's Easier - But at What Cost? 02/04/2021

Putting together furniture is one of the most frustrating things on the planet. It becomes tirelessly time-consuming because you have to use the tools that come with the item. You know, the tiny wrench and screwdriver that never seems to tighten things all the way. I am always contemplating whether I should use an electric drill — not only to save time but to make sure it's fitted properly.

Slow to Speak, Slow to Anger 02/04/2021

When I heard about it, I thought there's no way! When I saw them, I was disgusted. I wanted to throw something I was so mad. I know our God is mocked and blasphemed daily, especially in the industry and government, but to be so blatant about it was not something I was ready for.

Finding Rest 25/03/2021

In a society marked by stress, pressure, despair, and weariness, Jesus offers us more than just rest—He offers us rest for the soul. And He offers us the resources to experience this rest that can only be found in Him. There are moments when we simply want to escape from our problems. But as far as we may try to run, our problems always seem to find us! It's time to discover a better alternative than fleeing our troubles.

Responsibility is Inevidible 23/03/2021

My husband and I grew up in completely different environments. It can sometimes be challenging but it gives us the opportunity to grow together. As one who grew up never having to go without, I can say that my biggest obstacle is understanding the value of something. Whether it be finishing violin lessons, dance classes, or anything else — if I didn't want to do it anymore, I didn't have to. I don't consider myself spoiled, but I can't recall a time where we went without anything.

You're Condemning Them 22/03/2021

Jesus’ instructions with regard to judging others is very simply put; He says, “Don’t.” The average Christian is the most piercingly critical individual known. Just ask around. Criticism is one of the ordinary activities of people, but in the spiritual realm, nothing is accomplished by it. The effect of criticism is the dividing up of the strengths of the one being criticized. We as people are quick to judge others while condemning them to eternal Hell.

I was on Facebook and TikTok, arguing. Bad move. What made me think I was obligated to “correct” a stranger on a hot topic—especially a sensitive one? In my head, I really felt like I was stating His truth. In reality, the results were heated words, hurt feelings (on my part anyway), and a broken opportunity to witness well for Jesus. Not to mention a shift in my household where we fight hard to establish peace. That’s the sum outcome of “internet anger.”

Although 70 percent of the world is covered by water, less than 1 percent of it is drinkable by humans. The Tragic Flaw 17/01/2021

In literature, a tragic flaw is a character trait that causes the downfall of a story’s hero. That was true of Uzziah, who was crowned king of Judah at age 16. For years, he sought the Lord, and while he did, God gave him great success (2 Chron. 26:4-5). But things changed when “his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped till he became strong.

Be Still 15/01/2021

For most of my life, I struggled with being still. I always desired to do something different, always getting bored. In my marriage, we've probably moved seven times out of the nine years of being together. It's not that I like the moving process, I just enjoying being somewhere new. It's one of my husband's biggest pet peeves and one that I've had to make a promise of stability to him. Having two boys under three and working full-time from home, I would push myself to do anything and everything for others, while failing to make time to simply be still.

What Are You Surrounding Yourself With? 12/11/2020

I remember years ago I was listening to the radio and this song came on that from an artist I didn't really care for. I was driving so I didn't have time to change the station. As I went on throughout my day, I began to hum the song. Sounds innocent enough, right? I didn't think much of this day until the summer of 2016. My husband had made the personal choice to stop listening to secular music entirely. When I asked him why he stated that he can't straddle both worlds. If he was committing his life to Christ then he needed to go all in. Since he loves music so much, he had to focus on music that was not only uplifting but God-centered.

Love Unconditionally 07/11/2020

For years I wore a shield of fear to protect my heart. It became an excuse to avoid trying new things, following my dreams and obeying God. But fear of loss, heartache, and rejection hindered me from developing loving relationships with God and others. Fear made me an insecure, anxious, and jealous wife, and an overprotective, worrying mother. As I continue learning how much God loves me, however, He’s changing the way I relate to Him and to others. Because I know God will care for me, I feel more secure and willing to place the needs of others before mine.

Atonement of Sin 04/11/2020

The gospel of Jesus Christ always forces a decision of our will. Have I accepted God’s verdict on sin as judged on the Cross of Christ? Do I have even the slightest interest in the death of Jesus? Do I want to be identified with His death— to be completely dead to all interest in sin, worldliness, and self? Do I long to be so closely identified with Jesus that I am of no value for anything except Him and His purposes? The great privilege of discipleship is that I can commit myself under the banner of His Cross, and that means death to sin.

Strength in Suffering 02/11/2020

Joyce Meyer often talks about "long-suffering." I've heard her preach and teach on the subject and always thought it was a sermon people may not want to receive as it causes us to submit our flesh. Some interesting adjectives words are patient, forbearing, tolerant, and uncomplaining.
