Why Athletes Are Ditching Ibuprofen for CBD
That’s dope!
Nope. Actually it’s not.
Unless by dope you mean, “That natural plant extract is pretty darn cool”.
CBD has been gaining popularity for its use as an anti-inflammatory offering mild pain relief for athletes and chronic pain sufferers, as well as helping reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.
“CBD is another active component and could offer some of the same medical benefits (anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, analgesic), but without the side effect of getting high. CBD interacts with serotonin and vanilloid receptors in the brain, which affect mood and the perception of pain. It also has antioxidant properties. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) removed CBD from its list of banned substances in January, which prompted many professional athletes, including ultrarunner Avery Collins and mountain biker Teal Stetson-Lee, to eschew ibuprofen for CBD. Some believe it’s a safer alternative to drugstore pain relievers and anti-inflammatories.”
As always, be sure to consult with your physician or health care practitioner.

Make-your-own grilled veggie kabobs were on the menu tonight!
We prepped a bunch of fresh vegetables and let the kids have their freedom adding them to their skewers. The only rules were that they had to contain at least 3 different types of vegetables and include a few pieces of halloumi.
Allowing children to help in the preparation of a meal teaches them about nutrition and cooking techniques, and makes them excited to eat and appreciate the food they're eating. Giving them choices makes them feel more in control and more open to trying new foods on their own free will.
