Dog Show events in Ireland this weekend are postponed!

Statement from ‘The Irish Kennel Club' 11th March 2020

As our prime concern is the health and welfare of our members and the wider community the Board of The Irish Kennel Club has regretfully decided to postpone our two International Dog Shows on 14th, 15th and the ‘Pawtrick’s Day’ event on 17th March 2020.
This decision was not taken lightly and was the result of advice from Government Departments and the Health Authorities.
It is our intention to reschedule these events at a later date as the situation becomes clearer.
If you entered any of these events the following will apply.
• You will be credited for entering the rescheduled event
• On application, a letter personally addressed to you confirming the cancelation of the event(s). (If required for you use for Hotel/Transport claims).

Stay safe and thank you for your understanding.

Letter issued by the Kennel Club (London):

The provision exists following enactment of the “Good Friday Agreement” for Residents of Northern Ireland to specify whether they prefer to be considered as citizens of the Irish Republic or of the United Kingdom. In the light of this provision the KC/IKC have recently reached an accord requiring individuals who hold IKC Judges Licences but reside within the United Kingdom to record their “Kennel Club of Reference” for administrative purposes. The IKC is therefore contacting holders of IKC Judge Licences who reside in Northern Ireland to ascertain and record their preferred “Kennel Club of Reference.” Judges residing in Northern Ireland who select the IKC as their Kennel Club of Reference will be required to complete and submit the same Kennel Club Questionnaire (JD14) as are residents of the Irish Republic when nominated for first time CC appointments at shows held under KC Licence. Conversely, judges who reside in Northern Ireland and select the KC as their Kennel Club of Reference will be required to complete the same questionnaire (JD13) as do residents of all other regions of the United Kingdom when nominated to award CCs to a breed for the first time.

It should also be noted, irrespective of their choice of Kennel Club of Reference, that residents of Northern Ireland are ineligible to be approved to award CCs on the basis of the KC/FCI Mutual Recognition Agreement (2017) as they are not residents of an FCI-Member State and therefore unable to satisfy all the eligibility criteria as specified in the Agreement.

Kind Regards,

George Martin
