"We teach who we are"
What does this quote mean to you?
If educators and leaders do not confront and dismantle their biases, they will leak. Their biases will inform how they teach, lead, and make decisions. Doing the work changes the environment and creates more inclusive spaces for everyone.

I like this quote, but I also live this quote! There's a lot of work to do!
Now this is a statement. (Borrowed this from a friend)
I shared this in the past, but thought it warranted sharing again. How many of these inventions did you know about already?
What are you doing this month to make an impact?
We stand on the shoulders of giants who were willing to die so we could have the right to vote! I vote because I can and because it's my responsibility! Too many have suffered and died for me to have this right! This is serious!
Did you know that most classrooms in America are taught by White women, yet near or mostly half of students are students of color? How can educators and leaders best meet their students' needs?
Am I Responsive When it Comes to Black & Brown Students? I do a lot of training on culturally responsive practices and often start the conversation with norms to set the tone for what could be uncomfortable and/or painful for some. I then share information about the general landscape in classrooms all across the country in which we can point to what is kn...

Thank you, Burlington Township for hosting tonight's Critical conversations and inviting me to be a part of it. Great panelists and hosts.
This is a complete disregard of the plight of people of color and women...it is a distortion of the truth of our history and another example of divisiveness! This will never create unity in our country! And it's unconstitutional! This is why I do what I do and why I went back to school! Utter disgrace!

Executive Order on Combating Race and S*x Stereotyping | The White House By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the Federal Property and Administrat
This is quite disturbing, but not surprising. As a tax payer, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advocate and Leader, and as an American, this is not okay!!!! We grow when we learn to confront our biases and dismantle them. We have a lot of work to do in this country and as a taxpayer, I'm in favor of racial- sensitive training.

White House directs federal agencies to cancel race-related training sessions it calls ‘un-American propaganda’ The administration is seeking a list of all contracts related to training sessions involving “white privilege” or “critical race theory.”
How were you wounded by school? Check out this week's article. I'd love to hear your experiences.
How were you wounded by school? Educators: In what ways have you sought to make inequities visible in your schools or classrooms?
Are You A Leader for Equity (Part II) By the time I because a principal of a school identified as needing improvement, my equity focus expanded from one classroom to a building of learners who I believed could be successful. But this time, I had to influence the teachers who were in front of these students everyday. I had to operational...

Are You a Real Leader for Equity? (Part I) Those of you who have known me for any number of years know that I am a champion for equity. Long before equity was a buzz word in education, I believed students could achieve anything if given the opportunity and necessary supports. I remember the days when I was a fourth-grade literacy teacher and...

I love that I get to do what I love. This is an engaging and interactive training I conducted this week (and numerous times in the past) on Teaching Kids in Poverty.
Today I trained educators on collaboration. Tomorrow I will train a different group of educators on how to motivate students through rigor and engagement. I love helping educators become stronger leaders and teachers who help students learn and grow as learners.
Coaching sometimes means going through the snow to coach a new school principal who is waiting for me. I love making a difference.
