Have you thought about getting a rain barrel? Maine Water once again partnered with Upcycle Products to offer customers the opportunity to purchase upcycled rain barrels.

In addition to conserving tap water for watering your garden, rain barrels also help to conserve the energy that would otherwise be needed to pump water from the source, through the treatment process and out to the tap; reduce storm water runoff to storm drains that in some communities may also be treated in wastewater water treatment facility; and an upcycled rain barrel keeps the barrel out of a landfill.

In Maine, it's easy to take water for granted. We take pride in providing high-quality, life sustaining water to our customers each and every day.

But across the globe in 2022, 2.2 billion people still lacked safely managed drinking water; 3.5 billion people lacked safely managed sanitation, including 1.5 billion without basic sanitation services; and 2 billion lacked a basic handwashing facility, according to the United Nations.

World Water Day, an annual United Nations Observance, celebrates water and inspires action to tackle the global water crisis.
