Peanut and Katie are two funny and adorable babies who met and became fast friends at their foster home. They were both rescued from the streets of different parts of Brooklyn in the middle of this summer, at the brink of survival, during the heatwave. Peanut who is a couple weeks older than Katie was rescued at 10 weeks-old as a solo abandoned kitten scrounging for food. Katie was born in a totally dilapidated and filthy condition at a marina in Brooklyn. It’s a miracle that she survived infancy in that condition with just a scarred eye from an infection that self pretty much healed after we rescued her. Even though they both went through tumultuous living conditions as infants, they are both super sweet and loving. And after being in foster home for a few weeks to recoup and revive, they are both now healthy and happy, fully embracing their new fun-filled life. They love love love toys and love playing with anyone and with each other. They are such easy kids and have taken well to sleep training so they sleep through the night. And they are real cuddle bugs and love to cuddle up in bed with their foster parents all night. They are really loving kids and love hanging out their foster family to get pets and smooches. Peanut also loves sitting in any of his foster parents’ laps while they’re working from home, and he helps out with the house chores such as folding laundry. He loves doing laundry. Both of them are used to living with other cats in foster home and thus get along well with other kitties. If you’d like to meet this beautiful Pair Of Kitties, please fill out our adoption application and indicate Tara as their rescuer or you can always DM us.
Urgent plea! 🚨 Jake from State Farm is only 3 months old. He was just brought to us after being found laying on the sidewalk covered in fleas. Aside from his anemia, we noticed something much more worrisome: a massive swelling in his abdomen.
Jake has a huge hernia that needs to be repaired now if we want him to have a chance at survival. He also has two broken ribs, indicative of trauma. He’s at now getting ready for life-saving surgery.
This bill will use up the rest of the funds we raised in July and put us right back in the red.
Please help us by donating toward Jake from ’s medical bills. Truly, every dollar helps. And if you can’t donate, please share. We want to save this sweet boy, who has such a will to live and so much love to give.
Thank you!❤️
Happy Forever Home Friday, with Simba (FKA Flynn) Simba was rescued with his siblings last summer, a litter that we dubbed the Irish kittens.
Simba was the largest of his litter, and the first to get adopted- he has always been as cuddly as he was adorable so it didn't take very long for Simba, to find his forever home, and he has been living happily with his forever family (including older sister Nala) ever since)
It's so great to see Simba looking so great- so happy and comfortable and so loved. Rescue work can feel so busy and so relentless- there are a seemingly never ending stream of kittens and cat on the streets of Brooklyn needing help but Home Friday is our time to stop and celebrate the amazing homes that our BAA alums have found, and the wonderful families that have been created. ♥️🏠🐾♥️
LYNX IS BACK HOME TO !!!!! She was discharged this afternoon from where she had her leg amputated after 2 years of surgeries and infections and struggle. The surgery was very risky, but it became our only option last week, and we are so fortunate to have right here with an expert surgery team able to do a high amputation and save our girl. We are SO relieved she is healing well 🤞🤞🤞 and is now able to be back at for the remainder of her recovery. She’ll keep receiving their expert care and being treated like family 🥹🥹🥹 We will do a more full post soon, but for now, we’re getting the fundraiser for Lynx started: saving her life has come at a huge financial cost and we desperately need your support for her 🙏🙏🙏 Please donate here or Venmo @ Brooklyn-cats and let Lynxy know it’s for her 🥺
Meet Chase a captivating and affectionate feline who’s searching for a foster or forever home. With his enchanting green eyes, expressive big ears and a unique black spot on his nose, he is a little charmer. And that cute, short tail of his? It wags like crazy whenever he is excited which is often because Chase is full of life and love.
Chase has a heart full of affection, always ready to greet you warmly and shower you with love. He adores receiving forehead kisses, and his favorite pastimes include playing with his mechanical snake toy, hiding under the sheets when you try to make the bed, and hopping into the shower after it’s turned off to watch the water drip.
Energetic and playful Chase needs daily playtime to burn off his boundless energy. He can get a bit rough while playing with other cats, chasing them around and tumbling in his spirited way, but once he’s tired out he enjoys cozying up close to them for a nap.
Chase can go as a single kitty to home with energetic humans who have been waiting for an affectionate robust playmate.
Chase’s charismatic personality makes every moment spent with him brighter. He is a delightful companion who’s sure to bring joy to any home lucky enough to have him. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this little bundle of joy?
Fill out the adoption application linked in our bio and designate Chase as the cat and DonnaE as the rescuer.
After many months of care at and years of surgeries and 1.5 years boarding and receiving care at the incredible we are at the unfortunate point of needing to amputate ‘s leg. We wanted to avoid this because she’s a high risk case and there is a chance of very serious complications. This is her life. She is going in on Thursday. Please send her every good vibe, prayer, and bit of love you have, and cross every paw and tail for our best girl. We love her so much.
Priscilla is yet another abandoned cat from a hoarder in our rescuers neighborhood left to fend for herself outside. Luckily she was rescued and brought to safety. Her current foster mother has this to say about her- “Priscilla would be excellent with a family with kids or another pet, and may even thrive there. She’s super gentle, LOVES attention and being held (she’ll just gaze into your eyes!), adores playtime, and loves having full conversations with you. She’s all paws, no claws. I keep calling her a noodle because she’ll just flop into your arms. She’s super silly, and a little clumsy because she’s so young and still trying to figure out playtime. She’s my little shadow and will follow me from room to room. I see her as the perfect best friend for a little child.” If you like to meet Priscilla please DM or complete our adoption application and indicate her as her rest. Thank you! Let’s get this girl into her perfect home! 🐾
Finally, the ultimate bathroom accessory: ! This little man has come a LONG way since his rescue back in May 🥺 No longer hyperthyroid ✅ no longer clinical for heart failure ✅ thriving ✅ ✅ Could Mosey be coming soon to a bathroom near you??? Adopt Moses and get a Bedtime Snuggle Moses free of charge*! *Brooklyn Animal Action, its rescuers, and affiliates are in no way responsible for your water bill.
Foster or adopter needed!!!! This sweet beautiful girl is Moses, named after Harriet Tubman ❤️ Her human made the decision to move overseas and leave her here after having her since she was a kitten, 9 years ago. Some good samaritans stepped up to take her in, but it turns out Moses really, really does *not* like other cats, and they have one. Moses has to stay closed in a room and gets upset whenever she sees the other cat. She is an absolute sweetheart who loves to cuddle and play. Can you foster her??? Or maybe even adopt her? Dm us or submit a foster or adoption application for Moses and choose Jennie Anne as the rescuer. Moses needs you!
***Repost: We are SO close to being able to reopen intake. Can you help us get there?? Thank you SO much to everyone who has donated 🥺🙏***
We were trying so hard to avoid this, but unfortunately we are going to be forced to close intake due to a lack of finances. BAA relies exclusively on donations to keep us running, and we have to be able to care for the cats currently in our care, many of whom have serious medical needs. We have who had to spend a week at two weeks ago while we tried to repair her leg wound. That was $4,000+. But we are responsible for her and have to be able to cover her needs. We have mama Olive Oyl whose body is riddled with BB pellets, wreaking all kinds of havoc. She needs more diagnostics before we can even move forward with getting her better. Almost every adult cat we take in needs a dental, which is almost always a minimum of about $1,000. Virtually every cat we take in is not yet fixed, and we are able to get a small handful of spots at the ASPCA every month if we’re lucky. For the rest, we have to cover a private clinic. Even low cost clinics are over $100 a cat. And that’s not counting all the routine vet visits for respiratory infections that won’t clear up or an unexpected cut on a paw or just a really bad tummy ache. We have to be able to cover all that, not to mention food and litter for the majority of our cats, medication, transportation for our volunteers to and from appointments, and more, for the cats already in our care. The cats in these photos don’t know how lucky they are: if we had been asked to help them now, we would have to say no. And there is no one waiting to pick up the slack: all rescuers at capacity; without us, they’d be outside. This is a very difficult decision we have not made lightly, but intake will remain closed until we raise a significant amount of money. We are so grateful to all our supporters. We need you now. Please donate here or Venmo @ Brooklyn-cats. Please share. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Another cat that was dumped in a feral cat near our rescuer was trapped today. Although BAA is in financial crisis, our Rescuer cannot leave these cats outside to fend for themselves and the caretaker where she was trapped is paying for her vetting. Most have been very sick and starving. Please consider donating to our current fundraiser to help with future cats from this situation. We named her Priscilla. She also needs an urgent Foster because our Rescuer is out of room. Thank you for your support. 🐾

Willow was rescued on Monday after living outside in a colony at housing projects in north Brooklyn for three years. She was TNR’d a few years back by and devoted feeder worked every day to develop the friendly little girl hiding inside a scared cat until Willow felt safe enough to be loved. She started letting other people pet her and we knew it was time to get our girl inside forever. As soon as she got all set up in a crate and saw her little bed and plenty of food, she immediately relaxed and realized she was safe. She let the doctor at do her exam, no hissing or trouble. She knows she’s safe, but she doesn’t know how fortunate her timing is, as we have a tough rescue decision coming up. We’ll share more on that tomorrow while we put together info on how you can help.
Happy Independence Day Usa!
Happy July 4th!
from Brooklyn Animal Action.
Stay safe, cool, hydrated and a reminder to prepare your pets for the loud fireworks later on.
Meet Pumpkin Spice, an incredibly adorable 3-year-old kitty who desperately needs your help. Despite her petite size and charming short paws and tail, Pumpkin is very overweight. Sadly, due to severe allergies in her previous family’s home the heartbroken family needed to abruptly surrendered her to us.
Pumpkin Spice is currently in a temporary foster home, but the resident cats are being mean to her, leaving her scared and lonely. She urgently needs a new safe haven where she can feel safe and loved until we find her a forever home.
After her veterinary visit we learned Pumpkin Spice has severe dental issues that require surgery. We are pleading for donations to help cover the cost of her dental surgery.
Pumpkin is not just cute and pretty, she is a sweet soul who deserves a chance to thrive. Please, open your hearts and your home to her by submitting our foster form linked in our bio. Your kindness can make all the difference in Pumpkin’s life. Thank you 🙏
Last week was a tough one for our 🥺 After her major surgery on her leg wound 2+ months ago, the initial flap from the surgery failed (swipe through for pic of that: content warning ⚠️) so she’s been going to twice a week for sedated bandage changes. Progress stalled, so her surgical team advised us to admit her to the hospital for inpatient management on a wound vac, which is a special tool that gets attached to the wound under general anesthesia and then stays in place in the hospital. (It’s actually newly getting used in cats!) It helped her wound a lot, but our poor girl had to stay in the hospital and have the wound vac put in and then changed once under general anesthesia and ultimately removed.
She was in the hospital one full week, which ran us 💰$4,350💰😭. This is *with* our discount and we have already long since used up her grant.
But Lynx is our responsibility and we have to take care of her and do what she needs to fix her wound. She’s the best girl and needs this fixed. Swipe all the way through to see the wound on Friday at discharge: notice all the pink, granulated tissue. She has a special kind of bandage on now and we’ll bring her back for her follow-up on Friday. She’s back in the excellent care of until then ❤️
If you’re able to help us with Lynx’s bill, please donate here or Venmo @ Brooklyn-cats and share for our Lynxy girl 🥺
Meet Cilantro and Coriander, two adorable girl kittens rescued from a backyard in East New York along with their mama (who’s already found her forever home)!🖤🤍
Cilantro (white kitten with black spots) is so sweet, independent and spunky! She has an adorable round face, and she loves to play. She loves wand toys, ping pong balls, and toy mice. She is learning how nice laps are and approaches her foster human for affection when laying in bed or sitting on the floor, and when she purrs it’s loud and happy. She will also make biscuits. She will do anything for a Churu! She is getting more and more comfortable with humans! She’s also super chatty and will have a “conversation” with you if you talk to her and ask her questions. She will chirp from another r oom to say hello and figure out where you are or when she wakes up from a nap.
Coriander (tuxie, mostly black) is a hilarious character. Her eyes are always big and wide and she’s usually aware of her surroundings. She is very athletic and loves to play with wand toys and toy mice. She is a little slower to warm up to the foster human but is happy to be pet while eating a Churu or a meal. She loves laying on the bathmat and getting some affection, so she’s definitely coming around. She adores her big foster cat brother and follows him around the house, affectionately rubbing against him. Coriander also loves to nap on her mini plush couch.
The girls are up-to-date on vaccinations and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. They will be spayed when they’re 4 months old through our vet. If you’re interested in meeting these precious kittens, fill out our application here: https://brooklynanimalaction.org/adoption-forms/. Make sure you mention Cilantro and Coriander, and identify Claire as the RESCUER when you fill out the form! Thank you for considering a rescued angel! Every dime goes to save another homeless kitty on the street.
Are you looking for a furry companion full of personality and charm? Meet Button, a curious, adventurous, and outgoing kitten who will steal your heart from the moment you meet her.
Despite her young age, Button is an “old soul” with a big personality and a spunky attitude. She loves to explore and play. Button’s favorite activity is perching on your shoulder as you go about your day, offering cuddles and companionship like no other.
Her obsession with toys, especially her beloved mice, will keep you entertained. Button is a social butterfly and a talker, always ready to engage and make you laugh with her kitten-brained antics.
If you’re looking for a delightful, affectionate, and playful addition to your family, Button is your perfect match.
Submit an adoption application linked in our bio and designate Button as the cat and DonnaE as the rescuer.
Please note kittens are adopted to a household with an existing young cat or in pairs.
Thank you for choosing adoption.
Happy Forever Home Friday with Louie and Cashew. (formerly known as Scout and Sugar Snap Pea). These two came to us separately- Scout was found on the street in Bensonhurst and Sugar Snap Pea in Canarsie. Both cats were way too friendly and sweet to be living on the streets- Scout was going from house to house looking for help before one of our rescuers scooped him up.
Scout and Sugar Snap Pea attended an adoption event and an amazing family fell in love and decided to adopt both of them, and that was the day Louie and Cashew became family!
Since moving into their forever home, Louie and Cashew quickly became best friends. They are constantly snuggling, grooming each other, and playing- with each other and with their family.
It's so amazing to be able to find two happy endings in one home! Congratulations on finding your family Louie and Cashew, and Happy Forever Home Friday!
Yesterday's walk-a-thon was a great success! A wonderful group of supporters, volunteers, fosters and adopters turned out despite the weather (which ended up cooperating after just a little bit of rain :) ). We're so grateful to everyone who donated to this year's fundraising effort - we couldn't do this work without you! There's still time to donate if you didn't get a chance: https://go.rallyup.com/actioncatwalk2024. Thank you so much!
Happening this Sunday!
Brooklyn Animal Action has been rescuing and caring for homeless animals in New York City since 2010. We’re looking forward to our Walk-A-Thon! At 11 am on Sunday, June 9th, we’ll meet at the Grand Army Plaza entrance to Prospect Park for a pleasant walk to benefit Brooklyn Animal Action’s rescue work, while spending some quality time with fellow animal lovers. We’ll finish with a pizza picnic in the park, at the picnic area inside the Bartel-Pritchard Square entrance to the park. https://go.rallyup.com/actioncatwalk2024
BAA rescues hundreds of kitties each year and TNR’s many more, and we rely on donations to fund this lifesaving work. Over the last few years, inflation has driven up our medical and food costs significantly. We’re also still feeling aftereffects from the pandemic, which closed down spay/neuter clinics, slowed our trap-neuter-return (TNR) work, and left many animals on the streets. Even though so much has returned to normal, we’re still playing catch-up. We’re counting on you more than ever!
https://go.rallyup.com/actioncatwalk2024
Your fundraising will help Brooklyn Animal Action continue to continue rescuing hundreds of homeless, orphaned and abandoned animals and performing TNR to reduce the population of vulnerable feral cat colonies. So join us! Please donate to our fundraiser, share with your family and friends, and walk with us!

A long overdue update on ! Lynxy has been having a rough time with her leg wound. She went back to for a recheck last week, and then back again for placement of a special wound vacuum that meant she was hospitalized there Wednesday to Sunday last week. She went back to yesterday morning to continue medical boarding there, and I picked her up again this morning to go back to AMC for a recheck and sedated bandage change. She’s started a new kind of antibiotic based on culture results and has a new fancy bandage that uses electricity to help the healing process. After a long day, we headed back to Vinegar Hill this evening and got her all tucked into bed by 8. I’ll bring her back to AMC for another recheck and bandage change on Friday. She is an absolute trooper!!!! Although Lynx was fortunate enough to receive an AMC to the Rescue grant, her care at this point has exceeded the grant by close to $5000. If you’re able, please help us help Lynx by donating here, on venmo @ Brooklyn-Cats or donate or join our walkathon this Sunday at 11 am; link in bio
