His family hired a lawyer who then wrote up a letter outlining the illegality of the police officer’s actions. The police officer went through his glove compartment, trunk, and backpack. The family took the letter to Captain Joseph B Nuñez and he lied and said there was actually probable cause when there clearly was not. They swept this incident under the rug and have yet to reprimand this police officer for his actions. 🎥:

If you guys think racial injustices don’t happen in your community, you’re wrong. This 17 year old boy was racially profiled, arrested, and placed in the backseat of a cop car handcuffed. The police officer who did this is STILL employed by the Sheriff’s Department. Cerritos police officer also ILLEGALLY unlocked his locked trunk, no warrant or probable cause.

and I discussing the excessive police presence/force displayed by California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, National Guard, and Cerritos Sheriff’s Department.

Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti has shut down all Covid-19 testing sites across the city in response to recent Black Lives Matter protests. Rather than close only sites near protest locations, or reign in the demonstratively violent and unruly LAPD, he has chosen instead to put all Angelenos at a heightened risk of infection. As of the posting of this petition, the current number of confirmed cases in Los Angeles County is 90,631, while the current death count is 2,042. That is nearly half the total cases and over half the total deaths in the state of California. Mayor Garcetti has proven himself unfit to lead through these crises and a danger to the people of Los Angeles. We demand he resign from office immediately for his dereliction of duty regarding the health and safety of his constituents.

A man posted on a page threatening to shoot up our protest. Regardless of his ignorance, we marched. We marched from Gridley Park to the Cerritos Sheriff’s Station. California Highway Patrol stopped traffic for us so we could safely cross the street and passed out water bottles to our protesters. Once we got to the Sheriff’s station we had 8 minutes of silence for George Floyd. After this, we had a discussion forum about the racial injustices in our community with speakers from all backgrounds. Hearing everyone’s stories and seeing my community come together for one goal means more to me than I could put in words. So proud of us for proving everyone wrong and being a good example of a peaceful protest.
