Keith Evans is from Fitzgerald and is a superb musician. He rubbed shoulders with some of music's royalty as well including Tony Dorsey the trombonist and arranger at the time for Paul McCartney and Wings and many more.
Locally, he was best known for another song, 'Grant Street', that was based on the social habit of driving from end to end of town to see your friends.

Demolition of the Irwinville Hotel

This is what I call legal crime. A stupid grotesque yellow Dollar General will replace the historic Red Chimney Hotel in Irwinville . Whoever did this will be remembered well beyond their death as the village idiot that tore it down. If you don't believe me just list to how people lament over loosing the Lee-Grant hotel (Fitzgerald, Ga) to a Piggy-Wiggly grocery store decades after the grocery store itself is gone!

I hear the old Red Chimney Inn in Irvinville is to be torn down and a dadgum Dollar Store to be built in its place. This is a crime against our history. We already lost the Lee Grant Hotel and EVERYONE regrets it. Don;t let this one get away.
