We’ve lost a legend in the NYC news market. Doug meant so much to the PIX11 newsroom… there’s a void that can never be filled. Thank you, Doug, for having the back of every reporter when we were out in the field, and for being an all-around good person. May you find eternal rest, dear friend.

Happy 75th Birthday, PIX!
Happy birthday to us! 📺🍾 Today, June 15th, marks WPIX's 75th anniversary!
Our station first launched on this day in 1948. "PIX" referred to "New York's Picture Newspaper," which the Daily News, the then-owner of WPIX, was known as. For the past 75 years, we've been proud to be a mainstay of New York media. Today, we have more local news coverage in the country's number one market and we know that we wouldn't be here without your support.
Thank you so much for following PIX11 on TV and online for all of these years. We wouldn't be here without you! ❤️
CAREER UPDATE: Excited to announce I’ll now be anchoring the 10pm news weeknights on PIX11. It’s a privilege and honor to deliver the news to my hometown audience alongside friends and colleagues Kori Chambers and Mr. G. Just like PIX11’s tagline, I’m one of New York’s Very Own and I’m looking forward to seeing you Monday - Friday at 10pm!

Another Election Night in the books
Empire State Building shining in regal purple and sparkling in silver to honor the life and legacy of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II 👑
On assignment, covering test run for the Tribute in Light. We got a behind the scenes look at how it’s assembled on the roof of a garage in Lower Manhattan. The light installation has become a yearly tradition held deeply in the hearts of New Yorkers, as a way to remember the lives lost on 9-11-2001 and lives lost since in 9/11 related illnesses. Those two shining beams of light, also symbolic of the city’s recovery. Every year, the is presented by the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in Lower Manhattan from dusk to dawn the night of September 11th. Every switch is flipped manually, the beams reach 4 miles high and can be viewed from a 60 mile radius around Lower Manhattan. This Sunday it will be 21 years.

Memorials outside 32nd precinct and outside the officers’ homes continue to grow. Officers Rivera and Mora were stationed at that 3-2. They were killed in the line of duty, ambushed while responding to a domestic violence call in Harlem last Friday night. The wake and funeral for Off. Jason Rivera will be this Thur/Fri at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Tues/Wed for Off. Wilbert Mora, also at St. Patrick’s.

It’s been a rough week covering news in NYC. From an 11-month-old struck by a stray bullet to five NYPD officers shot, one killed in the line of duty…the gun violence is out of control. Our city is better than this…and New Yorkers deserve far better than this
