Hi or Bye to Business Cards?

With everyone going digital to save trees and make networking easier, do traditional business cards still have a place?

We'd say it depends on where your clients are and how you prefer to connect with new people.

Sure, some industries are all about digital, but others still love the personal touch of a printed card.

🔹 A business card is physical piece of your brand that people can hold onto
🔹 Handing someone your card is a lot more personal than just sharing a LinkedIn profile or a QR code
🔹 A well-designed card can spark a great conversation and show off your brand personality
🔹 High-quality design and printing finishes is a great way to make an impression

We recently got a new limited batch of cards for ourselves, and always get positive responses when sharing them.

How about you? Are you still into printed business cards, or have you gone fully digital?

We've joined over 80 Scottish organisations in signing an open letter to express our deep concern about the Scottish Government's failure to provide certainty around the Grant in Aid budget for Creative Scotland.

Creative Scotland's decision to close the Open Fund for Individuals as a result of this uncertainty is devastating. This is a vital source of support for artists, who are the lifeblood of our sector.

When was the last time a play made you cry? 😢😩😭

Or a dance performance left you speechless?
A concert made you dance all night?
A comedian had you crying with laughter?

Live performances and visual arts have the power to stir deep emotions.. there is nothing quite like it! Some might say that arts and culture are essential for wellbeing and health.

That’s why Hillside is passionate about making events and festival shine, helping audiences to take notice and connecting people with unique live experiences

Eden Court is the leading arts venue and cultural space in the Highlands, offering live shows in theatre, dance, music, comedy, and more. Hillside is proud to have collaborated with them for years, providing:

* Eye-catching visuals that tell stories
* Design materials that make their events stand out
* Effective and meaningful audience engagement

We’d love to know if you have an upcoming cultural event we can help with.

Spain may have the best team, but Scotland has the best fans…

As anticipation builds for tonight's Euro semi-final, the Tartan Army might be forgiven for not sharing the same enthusiasm. 😬

We’re really excited to share our latest project - a brand new website for Harbour Scotland (formerly Port of Leith Housing Association). This organisation makes a huge, positive impact on people’s lives in Leith and North Edinburgh byproviding affordable, desirable homes and services.

Having been based in Leith for over a decade ourselves, we were very much aware of their significant role within the area, and it's been a real pleasure and a privilege to bring their new website to life.

We’re incredibly proud to have been part of delivering this vital guide for people affected by heart failure. The document is a fantastic resource with clear and concise information about everything from risk factors, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments and how to improve the quality of life when living with heart failure.

Today, Global Heart Hub is delighted to launch the first global document based on clinical guidelines, developed to support people with Heart Failure and their caregivers.

'Heart Failure Your Guide To Your Journey' is a guide that aims to help individuals to understand the optimal care pathway for Heart Failure, inform their expectations, and encourage a more informed patient-doctor relationship and shared decision making. This will enable people with Heart Failure and their caregivers to better manage the condition, improve outcomes, and enhance their overall quality of life.

The secret is out! Galway Arts Centre has a whole new look!

At Galway Arts Centre we are committed to create, challenge and connect audiences to exceptional local, national and international artists that inspire new ideas and ways of seeing the world.

Our new visual identity reflects and builds on our mission to provide a year round contemporary arts programme in an open and inclusive space in the heart of Galway City. We are excited to roll out our new identity across Galway Arts Centre's venues: Nun's Island Theatre and 47 Dominick Street.

Our new visual identity has been designed by Hillside Agency and will include a brand new, user friendly website that we’re launching at the end of this month!

Here’s another recent project we’re delighted to share; a brand new website for South East of Scotland Transport Partnership (SEStran). They are a Regional Transport Partnership, working towards a more sustainable and efficient transport network in South East Scotland, and Hillside have had the pleasure of working with them on several projects.

We were challenged with a brief to redesign their previous website into a more contemporary, easy-to-navigate online experience, in line with their updated brand identity.

In addition to being a source of information for the public about their many ambitious projects, the site holds a vast collection of reports, publications and meeting agendas, so we ensured these could be accessed and browsed with ease by all stakeholders.

We’re excited to share a new campaign we’ve developed for the active travel initiative . The campaign aims to encourage people to Be More Shareful when moving about in shared spaces.

Our outdoors spaces have become a big part of life for many of us over the last year, so sometimes they get busy. The campaign is a friendly reminder to be aware, look out for others, and give them some room, whether you are cycling, walking, skating or running.

When given the opportunity to design a new visual identity for Cúirt International Festival of Literature, we developed a clean and dynamic logo to reflect their rich history and high aspirations for future festivals.

With a contemporary colour palette, a well-considered typography and a flexible layout grid, we created a cohesive look and feel across all their digital and print marketing materials as well as corporate communications.

If you have been walking along George IV Bridge lately, you might have noticed the bright new banners and window displays we have supplied to the facade of ’s beautiful building.

Did you know that The National Library of Scotland is an interwar classical modern design by architect Reginald Fairlie? Completed in the mid 1950s it is the most important library building to be designed and built in Scotland at this time and is a nationally important example of 20th century civic architecture.

While waiting for the Library to re-open, you can now explore and discover hidden nooks of the building via videos and virtual tours on their website (as part of Edinburgh Doors Open Day 2020).
