Omie asked me to lie down in a random wet part of the garden and eat an apple she found there. So much of my time at the moment is spent saying ‘no’ or ‘not now’, because everything is exhausting and I’m 88kg with a 90th percentile baby kicking the crap out of me. But I thought, actually, I can say yes to this. And the sun came out and Omie said “so nice to just be ‘laxin in the sun!” and ate her apple and was so sweet and patient with me, as always. We’ve probably got days left with it being just us and I want to say ‘yes’ to every weird little request.

There are a couple of larger masks available on my website today✨ I’m hoping I’ll be able to do one last little batch before the baby comes, after I ship all of the preorders which are now finished!! Thank you all so much for the constant love and support, I can’t wait to see where my practice goes next.

Hello!

I’m hosting another mask making weekend at the Potting Shed on Cabalva Farm, Hay-on-Wye, 14-15th December 2024.

It will be wintery and COLD but I will stack the log burner and make hot drinks and Christmassy food.

The workshop will focus on creating your own large mask for ritual or decoration, over two days. I will then fire and post your mask to you!

We are open for ! Joel and I will have our spaces open as working studios, and there will be an exhibition in the Walled Garden and Potting Shed, as well as a sculpture exhibition at the Farmhouse. There’s loads to see, tea and cakes, it’s very wholesome. Omie is insisting on having her own mini “art show” at the weekend so god knows what that will be like, but probably very abstract. I may have masks available… maybe? But you can come in and have a rummage and see how things are made regardless.

I just dropped this new friend off at pop up in the old on Gloucester Road, Bristol. I love this mask for it’s purely decorative abundance. I also loved seeing the other work from some of my favourite makers sitting waiting to go out on display. I had hoped to make the opening night tonight but Omie had other ideas 😭. Together we’ll make a large mask to your own design and then paint and glaze it. Lunch on day two is included, hopefully from my garden, and on day one there’s plenty of time in the morning to explore Hay and all it’s bookshops before we start at 1pm.

In the interest of transparency I’m letting you all know where I’m at right now - currently Omie is in childcare two days a week so that’s all the time I have to work (and some very late nights if she goes to bed), and for various reasons it’s not been happening every week because of illness/school holidays. HOWEVER I’ve just managed to find a nursery place four days a week from July so I can actually work like a normal person for 8 weeks! Which means EVERY MASK will be with you in September at the very latest. I am so so sorry about how long this has taken, it’s been a nightmare and totally my own fault from start to finish. Thank you for your kindness and tolerance and I promise to never do a preorder ever again 😭. One last thing - if you haven’t replied to the email asking about customisation options now is the time!
