My path has been my calling. With this calling, has come many dark nights of the soul. Feeling lost as if I had no one who could guide me home. I wasn't sure what that home was, but I knew it was a place that was pure, peaceful, playful, and free. I had been taught it was outside of me, and thats how I got lost.

One way that I've been able to grow as an artist is working with other powerful women behind the camera, capturing the essence of their soul. It's a transmission, from the physical to the spiritual. A camera captures light. Light codes. I have a gift to see this light as a filmmaker and photographer. Since my cancer treatments, much of my life has been on hold to dive deeper into my being.
Old parts are slowly melting away, and I am beginning to see a new light. I have watched my self get caught up in the urgency culture recently, and my body is not longer in tune with that frequency. It's truly in the slowly down, into the moment of ONEness, that life unfolds from a place of pure sound. I know this is where truth health is. In the heart.

How can the "human-physical" life be one's teacher? As a filmmaker and artist, prior to being diagnosed with cancer, I traveled to India for almost 20ty years seeking answers to the ultimate question, WHO AM I? While I do not feel one has to go to India to find these answers, I needed to venture as far away as I could from my conditioning to find my own voice. What I found were many things - love, connection, rituals, ancient goddess lineages, yoga, meditation, new friends, new wisdoms, new perspectives, but what I also learned was, this seeking for answers was always inside of me.

The photo is taken over 15 years ago in the holy city of Varanarsi (Kashi), on the burning ghats. I like to study life, so I can see beyond what people are doing, but what is the message that is being revealed from a higher, perspective. In this photo, I see spirit. Prayers. Mystery. The Unknown. But also a truth that we are all connected, and we will all return to source.

The question is what will one do with the life they have been blessed with.

Ahead of me during the next weeks are more medical tests & procedures and doctor appointments, I am hoping that I can stay centered within my own soul. And witness the light and inner wisdom and power that I have and always will. For this power, belongs not to me, but to everyone. It is pure source. It is all that is.

The eyes of a child have always been my teacher as an artist. Photographing child feels like home. Spirit speaks to me as if I can hear the voice of goddess. May I can continue to stay close to freedom. Freedom of my heart and soul.

What is the role of the seeker within? Is there something more than just the physical world we live in? This has been a quest of mine since childhood. I had always felt there was something more than just the physical world. I started yoga at 17years old, and still to this day it teaches me the same lesson. Quiet the mind. Everything you need to know is within.

I love to photograph and film sacred events, because it feels like home. To me, it's a field of ONE. With so much separation feeding the collective, I am grateful for the years I have studied and practiced yoga and meditation. My soul hungers for this every day. It's easy to slip into separation consciousness. Especially when life throughs you a challenge. However, the true medicine is within. And having the roots of yoga in my blood, it has tremendously helped me with healing cancer (which is ongoing) and keeping a positive mindset.

All dis-ease starts in the energy body. My healing hasn't just been on a physical level. It's been mostly on a soul level. I see this as a gateway for the seeker within.

The people of India, have always had a special place in my heart. I first traveled there in 2009, and it felt like home the minute I landed. I felt as if I was walking through a chapter of a novel I was reading about a courageous woman, with a life in her blood to find the god/dess within. This truth still lives within in me. At times, I have lost it. While I continue to heal from cancer, I am speaking to the goddess within to come back stronger, and with more to say.

All is energy. We are energy. Energy, from a wave state becomes a particle state. As a documentary filmmaker and photo-journalist, this is how I see through the lens, from my heart and soul. I stay curious and open to surprise, beginners mind. While the technical / technology parts are necessary to use my tools, I don't stay as focused on that, complexity, what excites me is connecting on a deeper level to life. Art helps to remind me of this truth.

What happens when we forget the sacred and the essence of our own soul? These questions are a key approach on how I photograph or film. I'm always looking beyond, all that we see. Whether I'm on an assignment, or just being alive. This past year, after being diagnosed with cancer, I'd had to put my life on hold, but my life isn't about what I do, its about who I am, and who I am becoming as a person. Someday, I'd like to be traveling and filming interviews and photographing people, but in the meantime I've had to collect all these parts of myself, and surrender it all to source and bow to the teacher within.

For so long I’ve looking for who Am I. Without the projections, beliefs and age-ism that a woman should be living under the patriarchy. Getting Cancer is constantly teaching me that I AM the healer. I am the goddess. Only I am blocking this truth, because I’ve been taught that it’s better to please. Still healing this core wound. **ra
