Fernweh By The Coast Consortium in Georgetown exploring Brazil!
This past week, we had loads of fun! Since our plans were rearranged a little bit, we had the chance to go visit the Air Mobility Command Museum off of the Dover Air Force Base. ✈️ Thanks to our tour guide, Mr. Pat, we were able to learn so much about all of the planes, explore inside the planes, observe planes flying over head, and even have the chance to speak with 2 young airmen (1 of which who was homeschooled!)It was a great experience and we highly recommend going if you’ve never been ☺️
When we aren’t having fun in math, reading, writing, Spanish, history, science, etc….we like to embark on field trips to apply and practice what we have learned at school while also learning more from the world around us! 🌎
We love to visit the community and practice our social skills and manners! ❤️ A huge thank you to Laurel Pizza King and Miranda James for allowing our group to come in and do just this! We made our own pizzas for lunch as well! 🍕 yumm!! We also always love to visit our local libraries! 📚 They have so many fun and educational classes for all ages. We finished out the STEM series class we have been attending by making our own Rube Goldberg Machine! It took some trial and error but the kids had a great time and learned so much about pulleys, levers, ramps, and so much more! Thank you Laurel Public Library - Delaware for having awesome classes for the community! Support your local library! ☺️
We have had so much fun with our students and can’t wait for the fun adventures we will be having in May! We just love our Fernweh family and would love for you to join us next year! ☺️ Only 2 spots left!! Message us for more info ❤️

Part of our fun filled day consisted of learning about folcrums, loads, and forces! And it would have been complete without a homemade marshmallow catapult! 😎
In science today we learned about the Solar Eclipse and then we had our own private Eclispe Party on the playground!

We love Spanish with señorita Ella! ❤️
We always love when Ms. Neyda comes to visit us from The Culture Club PR!! ❤️Today was all about Israel! 🇮🇱
This week in Science we compared the voltage of different fruit and vegetables! We worked through the scientific method and will begin preparing our boards for our Science Fair in the coming weeks!
Watermelon, tomatoes, lemons, grapes, Coke, Carrots, and Cantelopes….. Stay tuned and we will share our findings!
Working together, solving problems, teaching one another, explaining concepts, figuring it all out…. That’s what our students do at Fernweh! ❤️
Parents are typically forced to choose between sending their children to traditional schools or taking on the responsibility of homeschooling where they must oversee all of their child's education. Imagine an alternative option—a middle ground - a place where homeschooled students come together in an environment that focuses on the whole child, encourages learning, socialization and growth; all tailored to them as individuals. ❤️
Fernweh By the Coast Consortium is a multifamily homeschool that is this middle ground. At Fernweh we meet children where they are, provide opportunities for growth and development, and focus on building good people.
Fernweh is now enrolling Pre-K through Middle School for the 2024-2025 school year. For more information, please send us a message through Facebook or email us at [email protected].
Happy Valentines Day from all our Fernweh Friends! ❤️❤️❤️
What do math, writing, and kindness have in common? They are all skills that are taught, practiced, and reinforced!
February is a month of love and kindness! Here at Fernweh we are spending the month diving into kindness! Today we discussed Being Nice vs. Being Kind! Being nice is doing what is expected to please those around you, while being kind is showing empathy and being willing to stand up for what is right!
How are you practicing kindness this month?
Science is always a favorite class at Fernweh…. Not just because it’s taught by our resident Mommom! Today science included balloons, straws, and glitter! They learned about static electricity and even conducted a mini experiment to determine which color balloon would pick up the most glitter!
We had fun today learning about light as a form of energy, where it comes from, types of light waves we cannot see, the characteristics of light (how it travels, bends, passes through objects), and of course, a spectrum of different colors and prisms, like rainbows. 🌈
We love to always see our students shine their inner light!! ☀️ As Maya Angelou once said, “Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.” ❤️
A few pictures of Science ⚙️, winter yoga 🧘♀️ 🧘♂️, and painting homemade cinnamon ornaments ❤️ This time of year is so much fun at Fernweh!! ☺️
Shew, have we been busy!! 😬 Today was field trip day!! ❤️
In Science with Ms. Thea, we have been learning all about energy, machines, and forces. In our trip to DASEF Environmental Outpost, we learned all about Forces that Push & Pull! We explored pushing and pulling forces, including connecting moveable gears, making a marble roller coaster, testing cars on ramps, and assembling a ‘make-and-take’ climbing creature. Thank you for having us! ☺️
Some of our littles today using those awesome teamwork skills by building a few colonial cabins ❤️☺️
Today we took a fun field trip to the Red Barn Country Store and had the pleasure of touring with Farmer Keith! He was a ton of fun and was great with the kids in helping them to learn more about agriculture and the animals 🐄 🐖 🐐 . If you’re ever around Georgetown, stop by and say hello to all the animals and Farmer Keith!! I’m certain he would welcome you with open arms and a bucket of animal crackers for the animals to snack on ☺️
