Just thought we'd share this post from KV Artist Blacksmith showing how the Te****le Bottle openers are made.
- Making the Te****le Bottle Openers -
Bottle openers are a firm, favourite little make for many Blacksmiths.
Here’s my nautical take on a classic home accessory!
Forging the end is a simple but fairly delicate process, using tools which I have forged for the purpose.
- Punch the end with a slot punch.
- Open up the slot with a drift tool.
- Forge and stretch it out over the Bick of the Anvil, being careful not to make it too thin or allowing it to crack.
- Squish the loop back on itself to create the desired shape.
- And finally nip and draw out a little tab on the inside, to catch the lip of the bottle cap.
Just a simple, but satisfying little process I thought I’d share with you all!

Those of you that follow Katies work will know just how incredibly busy she is, not only is she working away making fantastic items like this she's also been appearing on the BBC 2 series 'Made in Great Britain' shown on Friday's at 9pm - Really lucky that this piece has become available.
