Update on the RMA building project: Thanks to the “Connie Thinks of it and I Make it Happen” guy, Tim Yancey ❤️, all of our equipment and supplies were moved into our trailer and a 16’ storage container. Then the AMAZING Operations Team at AMS demolished the building and cleaned up the site in one hour! (You really want to watch the video.) Next, we have to add concrete to the existing pad, then we’ll be ready to start the building. We are SO GRATEFUL for the donations of money, time and skill to make this happen.

WE REACHED OUR GOAL!! A big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to Raceway Ministries Atanta's building project. We are hoping to move forward soon and have the new building in place and functional for Race Weekend, Sept. 6-8. We are so grateful for all the prayers and support as we faced this unexpected challenge. God is good!

05/06/2024

Raceway Ministries Atlanta has recently discovered that our storage building has irreparable water damage and black mold. Consequently, we have an urgent need to replace the building. After getting several estimates, the most reasonable solution will cost about $6,000, and we simply don't have that money in our 2024 budget. This is an urgent need because our next Race Weekend is quickly approaching -- September 6-8.

Would you please consider helping us raise these funds quickly? You can donate through this link -- https://www.rmatl.org/donate -- or mail a check to:

All gifts are tax deductible.

Thank you so much for your consideration,

Connie Yancey and the RMA Board of Directors

As the sun is setting, I'm looking at this big tent -- the biggest one, right in the center of the Fan Zone -- and thinking about all the children who will come through that tent this weekend. We need volunteers to put wheels on Pinewood Derby cars, paint faces, monitor our big inflatable slide, and simply treat these precious children (and their parents) like they're valuable to God. What about YOU?? And the King will answer, "I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you have done it for Me." RMATL.org

Race Weekend Prep: When you come home after lunch and find that your husband (Tim Yancey) has already started baking the 900 biscuits needed for the Breakfast of Champions at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Feb. 24-25. And that's one of the millions of reasons I love him!
By 5:30pm we had them all baked, wrapped and in the freezer. We have amazing volunteers who re-heat them EARLY on Saturday and Sunday morning and bring them to the track in warming cabinets. Nothing but the best for our NASCAR fans!

The Pinewood Derby is the highlight of the Kids' Zone. The children paint their cars while our volunteers engage their parents, and there is a team that puts the wheels on the cars. Later in the day, the families return for the Pinewood Derby race, adeptly run by Tina Aligheri Dover (under the watchful eyes of some very competitive parents). There are trophies (in 3 age groups) for Design and Speed. Then the winners are escorted to the Fan Stage where they are introduced and interviewed -- just like the NASCAR drivers!! Literally great memories for a lifetime are made during this event. Some of our fans even return, holding their cars from previous years of Pinewood Derbies!

The volunteers' efforts in the Kids' Zone in the Fan Zone is measured in eternal value. Jesus made it very clear when He said, "When you welcome even a child because of Me, you welcome Me. And when you welcome Me, you welcome the One who sent Me.” Want to see what that looks like? Let's start with our Kids' Zone Director, Caroline Carrillo Mason. Caroline serves tirelessly to make sure that literally hundreds of children feel welcome and have a great time while they're at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Can't you just see Jesus smiling over her?
Next, let's talk about Face Painters! Face Painters are a hot commodity in a Kids' Zone, and you'll see that they're mighty creative people!
Of course, Jesus loves "children" of all ages who love to play with the Hot Wheels tracks and NASCAR simulators! LOL

On Sunday morning of Race Weekend, we had a full house for worship with David Akin (DavidandLagene Akin). David has gone out of his way to get to know NASCAR fans and to take the time to prepare to point them to Jesus through music and preaching. This worship service was one that we'll never forget. The Spirit of God was evident in the service, and the message was clearly speaking to the hearts of our guests. Thank you, David!

The Breakfast of Champions is only successful through the efforts of a LOT of people, most of them serving about 1,000 guests over 2 days -- Saturday and Sunday. This event requires site setup each day, cooking, making fresh coffee (a definite art), serving, busing tables, hosting tables, and site clean-up. We also have driver interviews on both days and a worship service on Sunday. And it's all FREE!! WHY? Because Christ's love for us is free, but He demonstrated His love for us by sacrificing His life on our behalf. ❤

We're 3 weeks past Race Weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and the RMA Board of Directors is still at a loss for words to describe our amazing volunteers! In March they hung in there with freezing cold and wind, and in July they endured brutal heat . . . both times going out of their way to engage our NASCAR fans with smiles on their faces! So, for the next few days, we're going to share a LOT of photos that exemplify how our volunteers live out 1 Peter 4:10 (paraphrased): "As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the many faces of God's grace to a watching world."

One of our favorite groups to serve is the NASCAR hauler drivers. These unsung heroes travel thousands of miles during the season, driving the tractor trailers that transport the team’s race cars and equipment to every track. The haulers have been designed to be the race team’s home away from home, with the capacity to do almost anything the team needs. The drivers are literally responsible for the nerve center of the NASCAR teams.
Raceway Ministries Atlanta sponsors the Hauler Parade, and the fans love it! We start by feeding the hauler drivers a "Welcome to Atlanta Motor Speedway" meal, then we lead the parade around the track property. FUN!!

The Kids' Zone in the Fan Zone is packed with loads of fun! Face-painting, Hot Wheels tracks, Legos, and the premier event: painting and racing Pinewood Derby cars! Look at the photos below and see if you can figure out who won. 😀 Then . . . the winners are introduced from the Fan Stage just like the NASCAR drivers! A BIG THANK-YOU to Caroline Carrillo Mason who organizes all of this chaos. She reported that a mother came by the tent and said that her daughter won the Pinewood Derby many years ago, and she still has it displayed in her room. Making memories with parents and their children? It doesn't get any better than that!

Raceway Ministries Atlanta had one of our BEST Race Weekends EVER at Atlanta Motor Speedway!! The weather was cold, the wind blew about 100mph (that's what it felt like), but our nearly 500 volunteers were troopers! Today we want to feature our Campground Hosts -- called "Mayors" at AMS. Danny and Lynn Hunt Adams are our Mayors in Trackside Turn One, Club One Camping and Accessible Camping; Mike and Kim Presley Conley serve in Legends Premium, Legends Tent Camping and Legends Premier campgrounds; Chris Bunn and Tanya Bunn serve with Wade White and Kayla Floyd White in Family RV, Family Premier, and Family Tent Camping; and Ed Sisson and Lynda Powers Sisson serve in Legends RV and Legends Lakeside Camping. These volunteers -- yes, VOLUNTEERS -- serve tirelessly from Tuesday through Sunday, welcoming our campground guests, solving problems, and making sure everyone has a great experience from the time they enter AMS property until the time they leave. THANK YOU, CAMPGROUND MAYORS!!

A BIG gift of Hot Wheels from these kids who participate in the AWANA program at Hampton First Baptist Church! And the best part? Before presenting them, they prayed -- out loud, adults -- for God to use these as a tool to share the Gospel next weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. ". . . they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world." 💕

07/03/2023

Raceway Ministries Atlanta got the nicest surprise today! This precious guy brought us a bag of Hot Wheels to give away in the Kids' Zone in the Fan Zone on March 18 and 19. It's always fun to see children involved in this ministry. And can you imagine what a sacrifice it is to be 3 years old and GIVE AWAY Hot Wheels? If you live locally and want to donate Hot Wheels, you can drop them off at Hampton First Baptist Church during regular business hours -- or bring them this Sunday and join us for worship!

TWO WEEKS from today we'll be in full swing at Atlanta Motor Speedway!! If you haven't volunteered yet, go to https://RMA.iVolunteer.com and "find your place helping at the race". We still need golf cart drivers -- ADA, Ramps and General --- and assistance in the Kids' Zone, particularly on Sunday. Join us -- it's FUN!!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who donated Jesus Storybook Bibles to Raceway Ministries Atlanta! We are very intentional about who we give these to, and we've had parents tell us that THEY read these Bibles as much as their children do. Please pray that God will use His Word to touch their hearts with the Truth.

03/02/2023

Want to help Raceway Ministries Atlanta make a difference in a child's life? We need to purchase 5 cases of these children's Bibles before Race Weekend, March 17-19. Would you consider purchasing a case at https://biblesinbulk.com/the-jesus-storybook-bible-every-story-whispers-his-name-case-of-20-9780310708254.html or donating toward the purchase of a case at www.RMATL.org ? Let's invest together!
