❤️🩹We don’t hurt for love. ❤️🩹
🗯50% Canadian women have been victims of sexual or physical violence.
🗯Feminicide is on the rise. A woman or girls is killed every 48h in Canada.
🗯Just over 1 in 4 Canadian Women (29%) have been assaulted by a spouse or partner.
🗯In 8 out of 10 cases related to violence against a partner, the violence is directed towards women
🗯4 out of 10 women reported that their children witnessed the abuse.
💕For a second edition, I am raising money to support the Howe sounds Women's Center Society who is an organization who is dedicated to the prevention of violence against women and support for women, children and youth impacted by violence of abuse.
🚸🚺The center provides a transition house and safe home for women and children who are leaving abusive relationships or at risk pf experience violence and otherwise unsafe living conditions, support, resources, referrals and advocacy.
🤲I am raising money particularly for the Drop In Center for Women and their child who needs support because they are at risk or experience domestics violence.
⬇️ The center is underfunded and need the help of the community to meet their goal with protecting vulnerable women and children. ⬆️With the highest cost of living and cuts to social programming, the center are seeing the highest numbers of women in the community accessing their services since they opened 40 years ago.
🏃♀️On June 24th 2023, I will run from the Howe Sound Women's Center Society office of Squamish to Lil'wat Nation community trough the Sea To Sky trail and Highway 99. This represent a distance of approximately 115km.
🛣Why this route ? 🪢Because I want to connect with the entire Sea to Sky community and let everyone know that support services for women, children and youth with abuse and violence are there to help them.
🙏 I would most importantly acknowledging and be grateful that I will be running on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh nation and Lil'wat nation territory.
🏙It takes a village to protect victims of domestic violence.
👩👧Violence and abuse against women and children are more common than you might think. Even if we live in a beautiful place, remain attentive to this reality which continues to claim victims. 🤜Talk about it, in 2023 it's no longer taboo!
With the inflation, we all know life is more expensive. You can encourage me by 🫂acknowledge this reality, 📲or with words, 🏃♀️🏃🏃♀️by running a portion with me or 💳donate what you can.
