Imagine sipping on a refreshing “Blue Devil” libation while enjoying pizza, wings, and veggies. Then picture doing that in a room filled with dozens of Fredonia alumni who are smiling or laughing (or shaking their head)over all the good times had by the shores of ol’ Lake Erie. Think about how great it would be to catch up with familiar faces and meet new ones.
Sound fun? Then be sure to mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 17, for a Fredonia Alumni Get Together at Pizza Plant Canalside, located at 125 Main St, Buffalo. The festivities start at 5:30 and end at 8. See you there!

Fredonia Jazz Festival
Hi,
I'm Nick Weiser, Head of Jazz Studies at the State University of New York at Fredonia. I'm also Artistic Director for the Fredonia Jazz Society. I'm thrilled to share with you the exciting news about our upcoming Fredonia Jazz Festival, an event that promises to be a true celebration of world-class musicianship, unforgettable performances, and surprise collaborations that you won't find anywhere else.
This year's festival, taking place from October 19th to 21st, boasts an extraordinary lineup. We've meticulously curated a program that showcases the talents of renowned musicians who span generations and styles. Allow me to share a glimpse of what's in store:
Thursday, October 19 - Jazz at Domus Fare.
Experience the Nick Finzer Quartet, led by GRAMMY-nominated trombonist Nick Finzer himself. Backed by an international trio of young, renowned musicians, this performance is the perfect kickoff to our festival. Get ready to be moved by the joy and passion these musicians infuse into their music. There are a few seats left for the 5:30 performance. Join us for the 8:00 show if you can! 41 W. Main St. Fredonia. Tickets required.
Friday, October 20 - Rosch Recital Hall, SUNY Fredonia.
Our Alumni Jazz Band joins forces with The Fredonia Jazz Orchestra to deliver an electrifying performance that bridges the past and present. Prepare to be swept away by the multigenerational talent that will grace the stage.
Saturday, October 21 - Fredonia Opera House.
Join us for an afternoon of musical variety, from Classic Dixieland to soul-infused jazz. Deanna Witkowski pays tribute to the iconic Mary Lou Williams, and Dave Golando and SaxTime take inspiration from the legendary Supersax. David Jonathan and Inner City Bedlam blend gospel and soul with their jazz roots. One modest ticket price gets you all afternoon performances.
Saturday, October 21 - Fredonia Opera House.
The Jazz Festival's final concert comes alive with the soulful voice of Nicole Zuraitis, hailed as a prolific songwriter and a unique and vibrant jazz singer. A frequent headliner of some of New York City's most iconic jazz clubs, she and drummer Dan Pugach are GRAMMY-nominated for their songs and incredible arrangements. They are joined by guitarist Idan Morim and bassist Sam Weber, plus brace yourselves for surprise collaborations featuring some of our favorite Fredonia Jazz Society musicians.
As someone who has had the privilege of building personal connections with many of these performers over the years, I can assure you that this festival is not just an event – it's an opportunity to witness genuine musical magic.
The Fredonia Jazz Society stands for live music and community. Mark your calendars and secure your tickets to the Fredonia Jazz Festival today. Let's come together to celebrate the artistry, passion, and innovation that define jazz and make it a universal language that transcends generations and boundaries.
Tickets are available now at fredoniajazzsociety.com. Don't miss this chance to be part of another unforgettable experience!
Warm regards,
Nick Weiser
