With the release of the sequel film to 'Joker' fast approaching, leading actress Lady Gaga has released a video promoting the film and her upcoming album 'Harlequin' which sees her using lipstick to paint a smile on the Mona Lisa's protective glass.

The response from fans and critics has been mixed with some seeing the artistic reasons behind it, and others reminding us of the protesters who targeted cultural venues to cause damage to world-famous art. The Mona Lisa being one of them.

In recent years, protesters used cake in 2022 and cans of soup in 2024 to attack the Mona Lisa in the Louvre. French reporters at Le Figaro have questioned the museum's decision to allow this scene to be carried out in the promotional video.

Museum heist sees valuable historic North East exhibits stolen 19/09/2024

items have been stolen from a South Shields museum

Unknown offenders broke into a Perspex display cabinet at Museum and Art Gallery and stole 4 items between 26-27 August.

Northumbria are appealing to the public for anyone with information to come forward, including if they are aware of the items appearing in shops and online.

The laid out a yellow carpet from the 's entrance and displayed a yellow banner printed with text explaining the meaning behind the protest.

The group members were seen in yellow overalls with caps and face masks on as they released yellow smoke into the museum entrance to deter visitors.

Police in have shot dead a ' ' person near a Nazi-era and the Israeli Consulate.

The man at the scene has been identified as an 18-year-old national. He died after exchanging fire with police, the interior minister for the state of Bavaria said on Thursday.

The was already known to Austrian authorities and had been reported to police last year for alleged membership of an group.
