Homero Cerón, Former Principal Percussionist of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, is a multi-talented Homero was recently signed as a Southwestern U.S.
Homero feels comfortable in a variety of settings, however specializing in melodic percussion instruments : vibraphone, marimba and steel drums. Acclaimed Hollywood conductor/arranger/producer Victor Vanacore referred to Homero as " a very special kind of musician with a real knack for rhythm and phrasing". This coming Friday August 11 I will be part of the Denali Kauffman's quintet at the Century Room.
Music of Dave Holland and all with no piano nor guitar.
I will be playing the part of Steve Nelson from the album Points of View and a couple of newer tunes.
Denali has taken the time to transcribe this music and it promises to be a challenging experience for me as I have been a fan of Steve's for years but never have attempted to play these tunes.
Please do pass he word. Two shows 7 and 9 pm.

Last week I was artist in residence at Middleton WI High School and I had a great time interacting with a lot of fine young musicians. Thank you to Yamaha and to all music faculty at Middleton HS , particularly Doug Brown who truly has a great percussion thing going on.

El Consulado General de Estados Unidos en Nogales, traerá el Sábado 22 de abril a las 7:00 p.m. el Grupo de Jazz Latino de Tucson a tocar al Festival del Tequila.
El grupo de nueve integrantes creado inicialmente por Amílcar Guevara y Homero Cerón, tocara con un estilo de Jazz único. Sera música con influencia Afro-Cubana, Puertorriqueña, y del Sureste de Mexico.
También el grupo va a tocar el 22 de Abril en el Festival de Jazz Charles Mingus que será de 11:00 a.m. a 4:00 p.m. en Nogales Arizona en 10 West Western Avenue. Ambos eventos estarán abiertos al público y sin costo.
En este mes de la apreciación de Jazz el Consulado General de Estados Unidos en Nogales busca que los ciudadanos de esta ciudad celebren y conozcan más sobre esta extraordinaria herencia e historia del jazz.
