C&C Services
Family based business established in 2003, providing traffic control and compact equipment services
We are working down in Ottawa today providing traffic control for a consulting engineering client.
The metal tube in this photo is called a split spoon. It is hammered down into the ground to do two things.
One is to get a sample of the material. The sample is then sent to a lab to be tested for many different things.
And the other is as it is hammered into the ground, the number of calibrated blows over a certain distance tells them how dense the material is.
The technician then writes their initial findings down on the form. They write down things like the location, the depth the sample was taken at, the type of material and anything else they feel is relevant.
🚗❄️ PSA: Clear Your Vehicle's Snow! ❄️🚗
I couldn't help but notice that quite a few vehicles on the road were still covered in snow. ❄️
Now, I totally get it—clearing off your vehicle can be a hassle, especially on those chilly winter mornings. But here's the thing: it's super important for everyone's safety, including ours and our hardworking employees.
When you're driving with snow piled up on your car, it can easily fly off and create a hazard for other drivers, pedestrians, and even us folks out there trying to keep things running smoothly. We really don't want anyone getting hit by snow chunks from your vehicle! 🙅‍♀️
So, let's make a collective effort to be responsible and take a few extra minutes to clear off our vehicles before hitting the road. Trust me, it'll make a world of difference and keep us all safer on the streets. 🙌
Stay safe and keep those cars snow-free! ❄️✌️
Today we are flagging on Gillan Road in Renfrew for the curb forming. The engineering technician is on site to make sure the concrete is all good. It needs to be a certain consistency so he checks each load that comes in. He also does several tests and takes samples thru out the day to send back to the lab.
Side note:
Even though my flagger is just around the corner, you still have to stop at the regular stop sign before approaching them. 🛑
Also, please stay in your lane until directed over by the flagger. Yes I know you need to swerve around the potholes, but there is no need to stop in the other lane. Just because you don’t see any traffic coming in the other lane doesn’t mean it is safe for you to proceed. There may be people, vehicles or equipment moving that you don’t see.
Today we are working in Renfrew on Bruce street providing traffic control for the crew cleaning around the guardrails.
Please keep an eye out for our signs and crew. I want everyone to go home safely tonight!!
And a huge thank you to the woman who dropped off a tray of coffees. The crew really appreciated it!
Today we are working with a crew doing seismic surveys along the Bonnechere River. The machine they use sends vibrations into the ground which is read by the string of sensors pulled behind it. These sensors are so sensitive that they can pick up a person walking up to 50 meters away. This area is known for landslides so they are checking the ground density today.
This month we are pleased to announce that we are celebrating our 20th Anniversery in bussiness! We wish to thank all of our clients who have made this possible, and wish to thank everyone for the continued support as we move into our future endeavors!
Pop quiz!!
What does this sign mean?
PSA
When going thru a construction zone, please stay in your own lane until the flagger tells you to move over.
So far today I’ve had less than a dozen cars go thru and most of them have moved into the other lane way before they got to me.
Also, excuses I do not accept any more:
I didn’t see you. (I’m dressed in orange. And if you can see the arrow sign way behind me, you can see me. )
I didn’t see the signs. (There are three warning signs before they get to me. )
You blend in with the lights.(I am over 100 feet away from the lights and I’m standing on the side of the road. )
There is no traffic coming. (Doesn’t matter if you see no traffic coming. There might be something going on that you can’t see. )
I have a doctors appointment.
One more thing. Don’t be rude to me when I explain what you did wrong. I’m just trying to help you stay safe. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Our Engineering client has us on hold for tomorrow, so we are available for small loads of clean potable water for swimming pool top ups, parking lot flushing or whatever else you could use water for! Contact us at (613) 401-7845 for availability!
BossLady doing one of the most important, but she hates doing this, filing for locates with Ontario One Call. We are required by law to have utility locates before we break ground. Remember to call before you dig! It's free!
This week we had the opportunity to install a double entrance with culverts! Even though we had a rain delay early in the week, everything for this project went very smoothly, from organizing paperwork (permits and locates) to on time delivery of equipment and material (gravel and culverts). Needless to say, another satisfied client!
The BossLady pulling her weight today! She didn't even break a sweat! Or a nail!
Melissa and I are out of town for the weekend, but if anyone needs help with storm cleanup, please let us know and we may be able to help make arrangements!
Todays office view! If your stuck at work on a long weekend Friday afternoon, you may as well enjoy the scenery!
Todays assignment - Pothole Patrol for our Engineering client! Fill some drill holes that settled and re-adjust some well caps!
When you have to downsize to an even smaller machine than Dino to get a job done! Let's have fun and caption the pic!
Coming in January 2022!
We would like to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Don’t tell Dino, but we got him an extension for his auger for Christmas! A new addition to our available tools now allow our engineering clients to take a soil sample down to 11 feet (3.4 m) from 6 foot (1.8m)
Dino got a new ride!!
Flagging in Foresters Falls today...wearing toques and gloves...in June...🥶
While working on Fallowfield Rd in Ottawa last night doing a night flagging shift, this motorist ran over a four inch nail and ended up with a flat tire right beside the drill rig. So what happens? Instantly cones go out beside her car, help with digging out the spare tire, spotlights out and running to light up the car, driller helps loosen the wheel nuts, spare tire on and tightend, and she is on her way before her friend she called for help shows up! Talk about roadside service! (And the coffee and doughnuts she bought back later topped off the night!)
For those who are on sandbag duty this weekend, heres an idea that may save you some time! Take some old highway traffic cones, cut 6 to 8 inches off to make the funnel opening larger, and insert upside down into rungs of a ladder on a set of sawhorses. We also have a small selection of cones that no longer meet standards (shattered or non reflective) that we can give to any one wanting them for this purpose! Contact us for availbity
LIMITED TIME OFFER!!!

So we are back in Northern Ontario, and it’s been such a hard winter here that there isn’t even room on the shoulder of the road for our signs. We had to flatten the top of the snowbanks (over the guardrails!) and weight down the signs!
At the Renfrew Legion today with Ontrac for their job fair!!!
Ice built up on your driveway or parking lot? Our 3.5 tonne mini excavator with flat edge bucket and blade can make quick work of thinning out that thick ice, making it safer to access your property.

So we have worked with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Ottawa Police Service (OPS) on many different occasions, but today was the first time we intereacted with the Mounties (RCMP) on a job. Today while working in Old Ottawa, the Prime Minister made a brief appearance on the jobsite

This year we got to meet and play with some of Dino’s family! Thankyou to Donny and Danny (Dino’s bigger brothers) and Daddy Digger who made it to Renfrew for the Christmas Holidays! Wishing everyone a prosperous 2019!
We are now offering our Traffic Control clients “Bumper Bars” at no extra charge to help define a safe work area around traffic. So far, all the tecnicians who have used it are complementing us on using them!
Todays mission was to retrieve and transport a few barrels for a client from downtown Ottawa. We do almost anything to DRUM up a bit of business!
It’s a little chilly in North Bay this morning!!!
A quiet day doing some traffic control for an Engineering client outside Manotick! We aren’t the only ones using compact equipment, even the drillers on this job have a compact drill!
So early Sunday morning I was traveling to Vermillion Bay to meet a client for a flagging job on Monday. At about the halfway mark between Hearst and Long Lac, which is literally a dead zone for communities and communications, we came across a tractor trailer that blew a drive tire. So we did a quick u-turn to check on the driver. Making sure he was ok, and letting him use the phone to get a tire truck to come help, we chatted for a few minutes and he told us we were only the second person in two hours to stop and check on him. We went on our way to the hotel in Dryden, and this morning while having breakfast at the truck stop, saw the same truck pulling out while our crew finished breakfast. I was totally surprised when the waitress said our meal was covered by the driver we stopped to help 26 hours earlier. Remember folks, it’s a small world out there, and be kind and look out for each other, you never know when Karma will be out watching you!
Busy day here!!! Len is outside Kakabeka Falls with Dino digging holes for weather stations and Melissa is down by Bracebridge doing traffic control for an engineering client.
