The Squirrel Works
The Squirrel Works is Don & Terri Magness and our small heard of rescued squirrels.
Yesterday I had lunch with some of the local rocket guys. They were discussing nose weight and what materials to use. I asked which weighs more, a pound of lead or a pound of feathers. They all looked at me funny, thinking the answer was obvious.
I explained the feathers weigh more. You have a pound of feathers plus the weight of knowing what you had to do to the birds.
Special thanks goes out to Tony Huet. There is a thread on one of the forums about one of our kits that went way off the rails. Tony stepped in as the voice of reason and we appreciate the effort. We gave Tony one of the Arapaho-C kits we have in storage, and hope he enjoys the build.
Squirrel Works uses 2 computers in our day to day operations. One we named Colossus and it holds all the kit designs, it's where we do most of the kit development work, it stores our inventory system and backup files for the website.
The other computer is Guardian and it runs our printers and laser cutter.
I still get a little nervous when I have to let the two computers share files.
Due to upcoming events, we will not be able to ship out kits the week of April 1-8. We will begin shipping orders again on April 9.
Interstellar Probes are now being cut in house. When we first started producing this kit we had yet to acquire our laser cutter so all our kits were cut by a third party and we bought hundreds of fin sets at a time. It's taken a while but we finally ran out of original fins. We took this opportunity to rearrange the the fin layout.
Various prototype kits laid out ready to go test flying

The Acorn. This was our 10th Anniversary kit and is of course based on the rocket in our logo. The first prototype was a bit shorter in length but we took it to a NAR launch and the people running it went completely ape and wouldn't let us fly it. We went back to the office and added a little length to the body tube. July 17, 2013
