HAPPY 15TH ANNIVERSARY TO TURNABOUT MUSICAL!
As a way to celebrate this monumental occasion, we've gathered a few thoughts from the current PWMP admins and compiled this love letter to Turnabout Musical. Cheers, and here's to another 15 years of TM! š„š
Hello everyone! It is I, your friendly neighborhood Skink. AKA Shinkinrui, a member of the Phoenix Wright Musical Project, PWMP, Turnabout Musical, PW Musical Productions, Turnabout Musical LIVE!, and The Maya Fey Protection Squad! Iāve loved Turnabout Musical and the people surrounding it since its early conceptual stage, and watched it grow into a tremendous entity that almost seems to have a mind of its own sometimes. The people that have worked on and loved Turnabout Musical are an indescribably important part of my life. There is so much to say about Turnabout Musical, and yet so little.
I say āso littleā because Turnabout Musical truly is something that needs to be experienced. You canāt understand the Turnabout Musical until youāve dwelt among us, experienced the culture that surrounds this show. Itās about art and music and storytelling and theater. Itās about the characters and story we love. Itās about experiencing the type of bonds that only come from working on something in this scale, with this artistic vision. How many people can say theyāve developed a Broadway-style musical? Well we can, all of us together.
15 years is a very long time for something like this to exist. It's a testament to not just the talent, but the bonds that have only grown over the years. This is togetherness. This show is a true representation of what a community of creative people can accomplish. I love you all.
The biggest thing I want people to take away from Turnabout Musical is this: When you have a story or art or music you want to make, and people you want to make it with, youāve got an incredible thing. This connection of creating art with others, it is truly a blessing. This is why I love Turnabout Musical- itās a wonderful piece of art Iām proud of, yes. But more importantly, itās a focal point through which so many amazing people have come into my life.
I hope everyone enjoys what Turnabout Musical has grown into. Whether youāre listening to the OG Turnabout Musical OST, vibing with Albino Squirrel Productionsā amazing theater production, or just hanging out because thereās so many cool creative kids around here, thanks for being a part of the Turnabout Musical community. I love you all!
-Joel Williams āShinkinruiā
P.S. TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM
Hiya folks š Maxwell Dziabis here, representing TMās second generation. I canāt believe itās only been a year since last November 24th, when the Maya Fey Protection Squad teased the existence of Turnabout: An Ace Attorney Musical to the world for the first time. I gotta say, Turnabout Musicalās 14th year was certainly its busiest and most productive year yet, at least since its first three. Turnabout Samurai, TAAAM, and Turnabout Musical: Virtual Edition all began their formal productions across three separate teams, and eachāAlbino Squirrel, MFPS/Nerdification, and Geroāhave put so much time, passion, and investment into their own TM projects across this entire year already. I know that the work will continue well into December and into next yearāto put together a full high quality video for Samurai, to finish the premiere audio production of TAAAM, and to put together the Defense Cast miniseries and Prosecution Cast semi-live performance of TMVE, not to mention the rest of the Turnabout Table Talks and whatever else folks have got planned behind-the-scenes.
What a truly wonderful time we live in, where all of these teams and folks passionate about TM can come together and share in not just one, but MULTIPLE shows with their own visions and unique contributions! This would have been nearly unthinkable only a couple years ago, and yet thanks to the Production Package and the Official TM Discord, the loving TM community has made it possible.
People who know me already know that my own history with TM stretches back twelve years, and my own personal involvement goes back to being cast in Turnabout Musical LIVE! in 2016 (thanks to the comment section of this very page!). I am so grateful and such a fan of the entire 15 years of TMās historyāall of the admins, writers, leaders, artists, musicians, and the other performers and creative talent who helped put together this show we all love so much, as well as all of those who have continued to keep it alive and reinterpret it for new venues and new mediums. I am constantly in awe that TAAAM, the humble project that Joel and I started working on over three-and-a-half years ago, has grown to include so much gorgeous new music, brought in so many new friends and talented performers into the TM fold, and inspired so much incredible financial support, and I cannot WAIT for everyone to experience it very, very soon.
But I might have to say that out of everything TM-related Iāve been involved in and experienced, this has been the *best* year in TMās history for me. Hanging out with everyone in the various TM Discord servers, continuing to meet new friends, and being a part or an observer of others sharing their own talent and creativity has been the most rewarding thing after years of quietly working to keep the community around our beloved project alive. So for Turnabout Musicalās 15th anniversary, I give my salute and special shout-out to todayās most special TM community: the TM Discords. Thanks for being a well of passion, emotional support, and sheer joy.
Iām not planning on going anywhere justtt yetāIāve still got to get around to that podcast yāall keep wanting me to make, plus a handful of other TM projects to get a start on once we finish TAAAM and TMVE and the Samurai video. But Iām really glad to see that the next generation of TM fans and creatives is just as wonderful as those who came before them, and I have the utmost faith that the project is in safe hands with them, and will continue to be once I eventually retire from the project (or pretend to retire, at least, until I will inevitably find myself back in the thick of things again ā¤ļø).
Happy 15th Anniversary, and long live Turnabout Musical!!! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

Hello hello! My name is Katherine Leister, and I'm speaking as the third generation of Turnabout Musical. That fact alone is WILD to me - Iāve somehow gone from overly-excited fangirl to an Urnsmasher in the Maya Fey Protection Squad and co-founder of a digital repertory theatre within about 18 months, all directly because of this project and the people I found within the community. I've often joked about finally being able to pinpoint where my life changed for the first time because of Turnabout Musical; the flap of a butterflyās wing that causes a storm.
When I was invited into the yet-unnamed TAAAM creative team in July of 2021, I was a very different person; I was more shy, easily intimidated, and WAY less confident in my creative abilities. And someone wanted ME, of all people, to join in on a super-secret Turnabout Musical project? I couldn't wrap my head around it for so long. And then, over the next several weeks, as I started joining in the creative conversations and making suggestions and submitting demos, I was met with unabashed support and excitement. My ideas were being listened to and taken into consideration and even celebrated, on occasion. By the time the first TAAAM teaser dropped by the officially-named Maya Fey Protection Squad, I was able to actually recognize what I was capable of and be proud of it.
The past year itself has been jam-packed with Turnabout Musical goodness, and I've been fortunate to be able to personally experience it all. TAAAM has been an absolutely wild ride of self-discovery and creative endeavors, Turnabout Samurai gave me the opportunity to fly halfway across the country and meet some of my favorite people in the world in person, and Turnabout Musical: Virtual Edition has beenā¦an entire novelās worth of experiences alone, to put it lightly. But I wouldn't trade any of what I went through for TMVE for anything in the world; the road to recovery isn't a straight line, but Gero Productions and our amazing cast and crew make everything worth it. I know that both our Defense and Prosecution shows are going to be incredible and I cannot WAIT for y'all to see them.
Productions and self-esteem aside, the best part of Turnabout Musical is (and I think always will be) the community. Everyone I've met through Turnabout Musical is so incredibly kind and generous and supportive. I stayed so deep in the paint with the project all this time because I like surrounding myself with these people. I've met some of my best friends just by working on and talking about something weāre all passionate about.
Act I of Turnabout: an Ace Attorney Musical drops tomorrow, and Gero Productionsā Turnabout Musical: Virtual Edition comes out in 2023. But once those are done, yāall ain't getting rid of me that easily (/lh). I've planted my roots too deeply in this community, and now Iām relatively confident in what I can do; I can only imagine what other creative endeavors are gonna have my name attached to āem in here, and I, for one, can't wait to find out.
If you had told me a year and a half ago that a niche little Ace Attorney fan project would introduce me to some of my closest friends AND let me live out my biggest creative dreams, I wouldn't have believed you. And that sounds clichƩ, but it's the truth. I don't know who I would be without it.
Happy birthday, Turnabout Musical. You were never truly a colossal waste of time. š

Turnabout: An Ace Attorney Musical will premiere in two parts - ACT ONE on 11/25 and ACT TWO around 12/16, both with full Objection.lol-style VIDEO! Read on for more details.
From the MFPS and Nerdification Media:
āThank you so much for all of the support youāve shown this project so far š Weāre so excited for everyone to experience TAAAM! We have two major announcements to share today.
We are getting ever closer to our original release date, November 25 (to commemorate TMās 15th anniversary). We have made much progress in mixing the soundtrack and audio production, but we've decided that we need a little more time to meet the level of quality expected by everyone: ourselves, our talented and dedicated cast, the wonderful TM community, and our generous Indiegogo backers.
To allow for that time, we've decided to split the initial TAAAM release by act. ACT ONE will premiere on 11/25 as planned as a single YouTube video of all scenes and songs, plus the individual tracks as part of the TAAAM Soundtrack. ACT TWO is tentatively scheduled for 12/16, also as a single YouTube video plus the individual songs.
We understand this might be disappointing to anyone who was eager to experience the whole thing dropping at once, and weāre very sorry for that - but we have some good news to tide you over! We are pleased to announce that both acts will have FULL VISUALS, created by a small team within the TAAAM production (Joel Williams, Dominic Miller, Ashley Smith, and Kay Oss) using Objection.lol and custom elements. They have been working tirelessly to make this a true audio-visual experience!!
Thatās all for today, folks. We canāt wait to see you for the premiere of āTurnabout: An Ace Attorney Musical - ACT ONEā on November 25!ā

QUESTIONS NEEDED!!!
Heya Objectionados! As Iām sure many of you are aware, this has been (and will continue to be) a big year for Turnabout Musical! Albino Squirrel Productions did Turnabout Samurai in August, and very soon we will be blessed with two other BRAND NEW productions of our beloved Ace Attorney fan project. There is Turnabout: An Ace Attorney Musical by the Maya Fey Protection Squad, which is being produced as an audio drama and album by Nerdification Media (the fine folks behind Turnabout Musical LIVE!) for release in November, and following that will see the release of Turnabout Musical: Virtual Edition by Gero Productions, a new group that has worked so hard and is already melting our brains with their talent (https://geroproductions.carrd.co/)!
To celebrate both of these marvelous productions, we're facilitating some cross-promotion between the two! In the coming weeks, we'll be holding a number of roundtable discussions with the casts of BOTH shows, together with some cast members from the Albino Squirrel Productions, Turnabout Musical LIVE!, and even the classic Turnabout Musical Original Soundtrack! We are currently taking questions to ask these talented folks, so if you have a burning question about what itās like to play these characters or perform TM on stage, how many times a performer has flubbed their lines, or other behind-the-scenes tidbits from the casts, please comment below or DM us and weāll be sure to pass it along to the hosts! You have until October 7th, 2022 to get in your questions.
(Also, if you haven't already, please check out both Turnabout: An Ace Attorney Musical and Turnabout Musical: Virtual Edition! They are both new and different takes on the original show that are sure to impress!) ā¤ļø
GERO WEBSITE STUFF
This statement serves as the Turnabout Musical community's official denouncement of Chorus Schrock and CDPTheatrics. We refuse to condone someone who takes advantage of such a welcoming and supportive community solely to fuel their own greed. Do not audition for them, do not support them, do not seek them out. Warn those you know to stay away from them. Protect each other.
FULL STATEMENT:
The following is a statement and a warning regarding the former director of Turnabout Musical Virtual Edition (hereafter TMVE), Chorus Schrock AKA ChorusDubs. Everything stated below has been verified by Turnabout Musical (TM) leadership and various types of proof provided.
Over the weekend, TM leadership was made aware of a litany of abuses perpetrated by Chorus during the production of TMVE, and was provided with proof in the forms of screenshots, statements, and testimony from over half of the cast of TMVE. We are alarmed and disgusted by this information, and while we were ready to take action, the entire cast unanimously asked us to speak to Chorus to allow them a chance to make things right.
When given this opportunity to take accountability, Chorus instead victim-blamed, obfuscated, and outright lied to our faces. Perhaps seeking an easy way out of a project they had clearly lost interest in, they offered to step down, which we accepted on the condition they would cease all contact with our community. However, we also informed them public warnings would be issued cautioning future individuals and communities from engaging with them.
The abuses Chorus perpetrated range from financial manipulation to violations of bodily autonomy through costuming decisions to psychological harm. Perhaps the earliest lies were in the casting call for the production itself. It was stated in casting calls that costumes would be provided; they then bait-and-switched the cast with a āstrong encouragementā they buy their own costumes, guilt-tripping and ultimately not paying for the few people who begged for assistance. Of the 4 people (of 29 cast members) who did get an agreement, we only know of one who was partially reimbursed. On average, each cast member has spent $150-500 of their own money on costumes and recording equipment they were assured would be provided for this PAID casting call.
To compound this financial abuse, Chorus stated in a public document that CDPTheatrics, their production company, would pay in part or in full for cast members to attend the Minnesota Fringe Festival to see ASPās Turnabout Samurai and host an in person workshop. This trip was strongly recommended to attend, and it was stated CDPTheatrics would reimburse cast and crew travel expenses, have a discounted hotel rate, and do fundraising for additional funds if the companyās funds were low. Several cast and crew members took unpaid time off work for this event, and purchased hotel rooms and airplane tickets. Three weeks before the event, Chorus stated in the community TM server that they would not be able to attend as they were spending the money earmarked for this trip on a personal cruise vacation. None of the cast or crew already committed to going were contacted directly, and Chorus only announced it in their own production server after urging from their co-director. No funds for the trip were reimbursed and the discounted hotel rate was not honored as Chorus was a necessary component of it, leaving many of the cast and crew in financial holes they are still digging themselves out of.
Rehearsals were frequently hours long, with no or very few breaks given. At least one rehearsal was reported to have lasted over 5 hours, and another up to 7. During these brutal sessions, Chorus would snap at cast members for looking tired or yawning, even though for some overseas participants it was well past midnight. Rehearsals were scheduled so frequently and sporadically that it cost several cast members hours and jobs they otherwise would have been able to take. In addition, no accommodations were made for members with disabilities during rehearsals, often leading to cast members being completely left out of what was going on. It was also common for rehearsals to end with ānotesā, which sometimes lasted over an hour and rose to the level of verbal abuse. A common comment from Chorus was that the cast ādid not careā as much as they did, despite the fact that during rehearsals, Chorus was frequently on Twitter and not paying attention at all.
Chorus also refused to advertise or allow advertisements to be made for TMVE. While the reasoning for this is unclear, it IS clear to us that this is in direct opposition to the financial interests of their cast, whose payment was contingent on ticket sales. Whenever a crew member offered to help with advertising, Chorus would become verbally abusive or disengage from the conversation entirely.
Chorus was also highly disorganized with regard to the technical aspects of production, scheduling, correct versions of songs to use, and cast assignments, and would berate cast members for asking questions Chorus themself had failed to provide answers to. Frequently, public pleas in the production server where all could see them were the only way to get Chorus to answer questions. Even then, their answers were often incorrect or changed without warning by the next rehearsal. This was coupled with a complete lack of transparency for how their ambitious āvirtual stageā production would happen, incompetence in directing and refusal to let their co directors assist, all while maintaining they were the only person who truly cared about the production on a regular basis.
Finally, in flagrant violation of Turnabout Musicalās terms of use, Chorus planned to sell tickets and use the profit for their next show, thus violating the non-profit clause and taking money that should have been used to pay their cast back for personal gain. While ticket sales for Turnabout Musical have been allowed on a case-by-case basis, this is contingent on the director contacting us to ensure all proceeds go into paying actors, purchasing necessary equipment, and if any money is left over, donating to charity. Chorus did not inform us of their intent to sell tickets and deleted the clause regarding ticket sales from all materials provided to their cast, presumably to prevent them finding out.
This statement serves as our official position on this issue. We have not included the proof we received out of respect for the privacy of the cast. However, the cast unanimously agreed to break away from Chorus and continue on their own, a level of solidarity which only underscores the severity of Chorusās abuses.
At this time, TMVE has transferred leadership to Archer and Kate, co-directors who had been doing the bulk of the productionās work already. A new performance date will be set and announced when available.
