Ysabelle Wombwell is a single mum, musician and producer and has worked in music for 13 years and in the social sector for 8 years. Currently Ysabelle works as a sound engineer and mentor with Young Thugs Recording Studio in York and as a youth worker for The Warren Youth Project (working closely with young women and parents), she also oversees the accessibility of The Warren. She is one of the founders of Make Noise, an organisation working to improve safety and visibility of women and non-binary people in Hull’s music industry and she also sits on the Sounding Board for Community Producing company ARCADE in Scarborough.

Ysabelle has lived in Hull for 13 years having previously lived in London and loves sleep, food and creating music.

Bacary Mundoba is a creative, artist, musician and influencer. Best know as frontman of Afro Codhead band Bud Sugar and a popular content creator on the short form video platform TikTok boasting over 150,000 followers. Known by his friends as Bax he is a father of 3, community leader and social media entrepreneur. Bax’ content and music have been shared globally garnering hundreds of millions of views and the attention of icons such as Will Smith, Erykah Badu and Jeremy Lynch to name a few.

MUNDOBA roughly translates to “large appetite” which certainly sums up Bax in most respects especially in regards to his appetite for creative curiosity

Chiedu Oraka Official aka the black Yorkshireman is a musician and poet from Hull. Chiedu burst on to his local scene in 2011 where he released his first mixtape “Not your Average Spitting Vol. 1” Since then Chiedu has gone on to become the pioneer of his own city’s black music scene. He has cut his own path with his lockdown collective into a UK scene which is dominated by London centric artists. His sound could be described as “ A commentary on the UK’s real nightlife culture combining, Hiphop, Grime and UK bass with a trademark of Yorkshire humour”

Chiedu music has millions of streams on Spotify and other DSPs and has had support from BBC Radio 1, 1xtra and 6 where his music has been played. He has also featured in publications such I-D mag, mixmag, The guardian and the Quietus.

Jeffrey Boakye is a writer, journalist and teacher originally from Brixton in south London, now living in Yorkshire with his wife and two sons. He has a particular interest in issues surrounding education, race and popular culture. Jeffrey has taught English in secondary schools and sixth form colleges since 2007.

Stella Munthali has worked in the Social Sector since graduating from the University of Hull with a 1st class honours degree in Social Work. Her current professional role is as the Racial Inclusion Campaign worker for The Warren Youth project; a service she once had support from as a young person when personally experiencing social deprivation. She has worked extensively within contexts such as Criminal Justice, Asylum seeking & Refugee adults and families, Education, Substance misuse, Mental Health and Children & Young People since 2011. As a member of the Black Heritage Collective she is passionate about advancing change in the area of dismantling systemic and institutional racism. In addition to this she is also involved in managing her own family life as a mother of 2 sons and taking part in occasional pieces of voluntary writing work. Outside of the office Stella enjoys music and travel with a long term goal to start playing the Cello again as she once did to a grade 5 level in the Royal College of Music.
