Today after the 6 p.m. newscast, Europa FM has prepared a special edition of the Piața Victoriei show. 2 days before the historic NATO summit and in the midst of war in the East of Romania, Anca Grădinaru has as a guest the head of the Romanian Army, the commander of the Defense General Staff, General Daniel Petrescu. The head of the army will therefore explain to us how exposed Romania is to the military conflict in the neighboring country, how and with what we can defend ourselves in case of need, but also what other new forces and military equipment from western NATO will reach us by the end of the year the country.

The discussions I had these days with my counterpart from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, General Onno Eichelsheim, who is on an official visit to our country, focused on the security situation in the Black Sea region, the allied capabilities deployed in Romania and the project to build a pilot training center for F-16 in Romania.
I thanked General Onno Eichelsheim for the outstanding professional performance of the Dutch military within the NATO Combat Group and for the support on the operation of the PATRIOT high impact solar-to-air missile systems and the preparation of the Romanian pilots with F-16

Today I participated in the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the 2nd Battalion of Mechanized Infantry "Călugareni", a unit I have worked in for more than a decade and which I had the honor to be commander of.
The "Monks" have a special spirit, the three-decade history of the structure awarding numerous awards: the first unit in the Romanian Army framed with professional soldiers, the first combat unit that participated in military operations outside the national territory, after the Second World War. At part of the missions performed in operation theatres, on three continents, I had the opportunity to participate, together with trusted comrades. Among them were colleagues who made the supreme sacrifice, to whom we keep their memory alive and pay homage to.
The unit continues to maintain its relevance in the strength structure of the Romanian Army, being an important component of the 282nd Armored Brigade, a target of capabilities in the NATO defense planning process, as well as part of the NATO Readiness Initiative. The professionalism and dedication of the battalion personnel is also reconfirmed by decorating the Battle Flag with the Order of Military Virtue in the rank of an Officer with a sign of peace for the military, granted by the President of Romania.
I congratulate the personnel of the battalion yesterday and today for all their achievements in the past 30 years! Congratulations and thanks to all those who contributed to building what this unit is today.
Congratulations, 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion "Călugareni"!
