To celebrate Studio Monkey Shoulder in Miami, Gilles Peterson will be hosting our final Studio Monkey Shoulder radio series, the Miami episode, live from

In this special cross-broadcast with Miami Community Radio, Gilles will be celebrating the rich cultural influences of Miami’s music genres and spotlighting some of the city’s exciting grassroots scenes with some special guests.

DJ Kumi hosts a weekly Brainville Arts show on WDNA community radio and is the co-founder of Rum And Coke Miami - a monthly gathering exploring the expansive sonic palette of the Caribbean and Latin America-via-Africa, with a focus specifically on the golden age of this music (the 1960’s - 1980’s)

Beth Boone is the artistic and executive director of Miami Light Project one of South Florida’s leading cultural spaces. Over the years, she’s focused a great deal on the masters of jazz and new music in the US, and pioneered cultural exchange with Cuban musicians, both through our International Hip Hop Exchange/Miami; and our Global Cuba Fest, now in its 17th year.

And finally, Rich Medina the highly celebrated Miami-based DJ/producer and founder of Dante’s Hifi - the first vinyl listening bar and venue dedicated to the analog audiophile music culture in Wynwood.

You can also expect Gilles to be digging through crates in the store and playing some Miami-focused Latin, Jazz, and Hip Hop gems that catch his eye.

Sorry for the lack of posts this time around, but we have been not only renovating the shop but stocking up on every single section. I’ll be putting out new arrivals throughout the day.
