Flowers In Our Garden
It's all about Hoyas
Very first bloom on this hoya in my garden ☺️
Hoya Patricia bloomed last night..this was the third and the last peduncle of this round. The time lapse idea came to me when I found out that this flower starts to bloom early in the evening and it didn't take long as the opening and reflexing went hand in hand as well.. . .
I thought the solution for spider mite could be a spider so I let an orb weaver stay with my Bella as I am having a hard time saving her from mites.... I guess keeping the plant moist by daily misting is the best solution.. today I found orb weaver babies while misting my Bella ..

A long wait ends & a part disappointment as it turned out to be not what the seller said it was ...This (halconensis) was sold as a shooting star and the similarity in leaves tricked me too till the flower buds appeared.... 😄😛
This Unique Hindu rope , Hoya carnosa compacta, succulent vines
plant which has the most interesting looking foliage arrived with this horrible case of a stick in its foliage...😱
I couldn't remove it immediately as the stick was passing through several of its compact leaves and also the wound was still raw so I kept it as it is for quiet sometimes .. luckily it has recovered now...hamdhulillahi
This was another case of mishandling from suppliers.
The genus Hoya was named after the botanist Thomas Hoy.
Nummularioides means that it is similar in appearance to 'Lysimachia Nummularia', or creeping Jenny.
Like all species of Hoya, H. nummularioides flowers from spurs. These appear from the axils of the leaves and stem; flowers may not be produced when the spurs first appear, but in time buds emerge from the tips. Each season new flowers are produced on these same spurs, so they should not be damaged or removed.
Hoya nummularioides is an easy to grow plant that I would recommend to beginners. It has small, flat, round, succulent leaves and makes a really nice, full hanging .

Hoya Imbricata Best Care Tips
Hoya Imbricata is an epiphytic climber that belongs to the family of Apocynaceae. There are up to 600 to 700 Hoya species. The species is very common in tropical and sub-tropical Asia.
To care for Hoya Imbricata, one must consider the space for growth. For instance, some of my Hoya plants prefer growing in baskets, while others enjoy climbing walls. This plant needs a peat-based potting mixture that is well-draining.
Hoya imbricata is a myrmecophile epiphytic creeper with long, thin climbing stems, occurring throughout tropical Asia. It is unusual for its large, decorative, mottled green and purple dome-shaped leaves of some 25 cm in diameter, which offer accommodation to ant colonies
Crushed eggshells or using oyster shells on top should suffice, as the soil will slowly get more alkaline as you water the plant.
I have one Hoya Imbricata in my kitchen, and I find that every few days, I need to spray the roots and handle it a lot like one of my air plants.
It has helped a lot to put the mounted Hoya on the same watering schedule as the air plants.
If not, I find it easier to take care of Hoya in soil. Growing Hoya Imbricata in pure cocoa chips is common in Asia.
My potting mix is usually a mix of one-third peat, one-third perlite, and one-third orchid mixture (fir bark, perlite, charcoal).
I think that gives a very aerial blend. This is especially important because Hoya Imbricata doesn’t like being kept in water.
WATER
Thorough watering of Hoya Imbricata is not a concern if you have a well-draining soil of good proportion.
If your soil mix is too heavy, such as a very peaty mixture, then you risk getting overwatering or clogging of the soil.
I suggest watering the plant based on the consistency and strength of the light being offered to them.
The Hoya Imbricata closest to my window facing southwest undoubtedly gets a higher watering frequency. The frequency certainly increases during the summer months.
Those which I grow outside my window facing northeast, or under rising lights, would get far less water.
In certain cases, I withhold watering, depending on the condition of my Hoya Imbricata.

A great Hoya and a must have for any houseplant enthusiast – if only for the wonderful perfumed scent of the flowers alone! They can transform any room into a sweet smelling paradise. This plant will suffer considerably in the dry environment of northern centrally heated homes in the winter. If you want this plant to be happy in the winter, and you live in my climate, grow it under lights in a grow room with lots of humidity. It will then flower for you all year. There are many cultivars of this plant now, and it is almost always available in some form at the big box stores. I am still am partial to the original green, but that is just me – they should all perform pretty much the same for you.
