"Wear and tear" is normal, we all get it at some point. Here is a great video about X-rays and MRI's usefulness as a diagnostic tool and why degeneration should not be blamed as a cause of pain. I personally think that forming a personal management plan is much more beneficial when treating pain than the actual diagnosis of degeneration! =)

I enjoy giving exercise advices to my patients, because then I know it has been done in a controlled manner. This shoulder blade stabilisation exercise is great for neck and shoulder pain! It reduces forward neck carriage, which is common if you work desk based and it improves shoulder posture. Exercise has pain decreasing effect and it improves circulation to promote healing process. It also releases certain hormones, such as endorphine that can help reduce reliance on pain medication and makes you feel good. On top of all these great benefits, exercise also reduces the likely frequency of episodes of pain and the intensity of pain felt in the future.
