Recognizing Maine’s burgeoning reputation as a culinary destination, this year’s exhibition seeks to celebrate the rich tapestry of flavors, traditions, and social nuances intertwined with food and drink. 🍅🫒🍳🍕🥤🍰

Join us for our First Friday open reception, celebrating the art of poster design related to food and drink, bringing together talented artists from various disciplines to display their unique visions and creative styles.

AIGA Maine is pleased to announce our third annual poster show, 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝘆𝗲𝘀, scheduled for October 2024. We cordially invite members of the design community to submit their entries for consideration.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁:
This year, we’re looking for posters representative of the theme of food and beverage. Food and beverages play a significant role in shaping cultural identity and fostering community connections, and Maine has become well-known as a popular location for foodies. We’re interested to see all unique artistic perspectives on this theme, whether your poster celebrates the joy of eating, shares insight into a particular culture’s cuisine, makes a statement on a societal issue around food and drink, or simply illustrates your favorite meal. Both lighthearted and serious takes on our theme are welcome - get creative and design a true feast for the eyes with your poster.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀:
The exhibition will be curated through a juried selection process. We are proud to announce our guest judges, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗼 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 from Maine College of Art & Design and 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗵 of Might & Main. Selected entries will be showcased at Portland Media Center, 516 Congress St., Portland, ME) at an opening celebration on October 4, 2024 (during Portland’s First Friday Artwalk!). Posters will then be displayed at local restaurants during the month.

Are you a lover of typography? Are you fascinated by ligatures, line spacing, serifs and swashes? Join AIGA Maine during our 2024 Design Fest for a downtown tour of our favorite typography, led by local Art Director Morgan Dyer. We will be tracking down Exchange street, through Middle Street, and tapering off again at Tommy’s Park for 45 minutes in total. All participants will receive a custom map of the typewalk route!

𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Comfortable walking shoes are suggested. The typewalk will happen rain or shine, but if severe weather occurs (ex. thunderstorm) we will reschedule.

The day is a unique opportunity for Portland-area studios to open their doors to interested visitors from Maine's creative community during a specified time, similar to an open house. Are you a lover of typography? Are you fascinated by ligatures, line spacing, serifs, and swashes? Join AIGA Maine during our 2024 Design Fest for a downtown tour of our favorite typography, led by local Art Director Morgan Dyer. We will be tracking down Exchange Street, through Middle Street, and tapering off again at Tommy’s Park for 45 minutes in total. All participants will receive a custom map of the typewalk route!

𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
Comfortable walking shoes are suggested. The typewalk will happen rain or shine, but if severe weather occurs (ex. thunderstorm) we will reschedule.
