It's world Breastfeeding week!

While it is very advisable infants feed on breastmilk early on in life, Fact remains that not every woman would be able to breastfeed and as such should not be shamed on their choices.

Do you know that Gestational diabetes (Diabetes first diagnosed during pregnancy) causes extra blood glucose (sugar) to get to your baby causing your baby to get so big even in utero?

Moreso, it impacts on the overall health of the mother, and if left uncontrolled and would later go on to cause severe associated risks?

So before you rejoice on how healthy or chubby a severely obesed baby is, ensure babies born to Diabetic mothers are properly monitored and observed following birth.

Statistics have shown that about 1 in 4 women lose their pregnancies by the 2nd trimester while others lose their infants at birth.

Whether they be with us for days, weeks or months doesn't make it a less traumatizing experience.
