Jimmy Gomez
Candidate for re-election for the 34th Congressional District. Representing Northeast LA and East LA. Representative for the great folks of #CA34 in Congress.
Proud Progressive. Lifelong @Dodgers fan. Shelter š¶ parent. Los Angeles in the House! Personal Account.
On the 100th day of the WGA strike, I led my CA colleagues to call on studios to negotiate in good faith on the issues that are critical to the success of the union members we represent & the industry as a whole.
The concerns raised by are legitimate:
āļøSalary adjustments to keep up with inflation
āļøResiduals that reflect the business model of streaming
āļøSuitable working conditions
āļøAn agreement to ensure actors & writers are not replaced by artificial intelligence.
But studios would rather forgo $30 million a day in economic output than give workers the dignity they deserve.
Weāre calling on studios to address these reasonable concerns & get Hollywood back to work.
Los Angeles is .
I stand in solidarity with all members of and ! I represent over 33,000 members in my district alone. We stopped by the picket line at Paramount Studios to show our support by walking the line and passing out water & snacks.
Actors, writers and crews not only deserve but need fair pay & strong benefitsāand we wonāt stop until they get them. āš½

šø:
Thank you, Los Angeles! Iām truly humbled to continue to serve you and our communities in the House of Representatives. Everything I've done since being elected to Congress is to fight for those who are often left behind by those in power - because this fight is personal to me.
Iām the son of immigrants, so I fight for immigration reform. I grew up without health insurance, and my medical bills nearly bankrupted our family. Thatās why I fight for Medicare for all. I worked at Subway and Target after high school to help my family and enrolled in community college to change my life. Thatās why I fight for working people and for a free college education for everyone.
Over the past several years, the pandemic further exacerbated the inequality we see and feel in our communities making our efforts even more urgent. Iām proud to have successfully fought to extend the eviction moratorium by sleeping on the Capitol steps, secured millions for affordable housing, passed and implemented an enhanced child tax credit that cut child poverty, voted for the largest investment to combat climate change in U.S. history, and took on powerful special interests to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices for the first time ever.
On January 6, when our democracy was attacked by those who refused to recognize a legitimate election, I did my sworn duty to defend and protect the constitution by certifying the election of a new president. I won't stop fighting to hold those using violence in politics accountable.
As a new father, I was proud to take my son with me to vote in this past election. I did so with the understanding that our country is at a pivotal moment where we must urgently and unapologetically address the challenges that impact our communities. Now more than ever, we must restore the promise of the American Dream and build a better tomorrow for all by fighting for housing affordability, combating climate change, protecting reproductive rights and the right to vote, while striving for economic and social justice.
My son and every child in future generations are depending on us to continue this work together by building power and creating change through community, advocacy and solidarity. It is the honor of a lifetime to be in this fight alongside you.
This time of year we are reminded of the importance of service.
It was great seeing so many familiar faces out in the community yesterday as our team dropped off turkeys to nonprofit organizations Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council, Boys & Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley & Eastside, Boys and Girls Clubs of East Los Angeles, Barrio Action Youth & Family Center, East L A Rising, Hello Stranger, Homeboy Industries!

Great to be with Wendy Carrillo, Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California, activists & community members to rally for reproductive rights in East LA today!
Iāve been fighting to enhance abortion rights since the California Assembly.
In Congress, I co-sponsored the Womenās Health Protection Act & voted to pass it + the Right to Contraception & Ensuring Access to Abortion Acts, all of which have passed the House thanks to Democrats.
We must elect more Democrats to the Senate to pass these bills & send them to President Joe Biden to sign into law.
Coming together. Rebuilding trust. Healing.
Thatās what Karen Bass and I are focused on as we start our plan of action to deliver policy equity for ALL Angelenos.
And we know it will take everybody - leaders, organizations, and community members - to heal our city. Join us.
Thank you for your endorsement Madam Vice President Kamala Harris!
āI am proud to endorse Jimmy Gomez, who is part of an accomplished slate of Californians up and down the ballot who are committed to, along with our Administration, deliver results on behalf of working families, confronting the climate crisis, lowering health care costs, and other critical priorities. The stakes are high this year and I am confident Jimmy Gomez will stand up for the values we hold dear.ā - Vice President Kamala Harris
