“One more time” has become “One last time”. The 2023 marching season is complete for this group of young performers. The 2023 Pride of Lexington has come a long way since band camp in July and gave a stellar performance at the Tennessee Division II State Championship at Stewarts Creek High School. The band finished in 13th place and earned “Excellent” ratings in Band, Percussion, and Color Guard as well as a “Superior” rating in Drum majors.
To the students:
Congratulations everyone. I hope you can take a moment now and reflect on all the joy you’ve brought to the people around you this season. Every year you continue to grow and surprise me in different and amazing ways. You are my biggest source of pride and I love you all so much. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one. Take some time to rest, reflect, and prepare yourselves for the next journey which I know will be equally amazing.
To the parents, community, and our sponsors:
Thank you for all of your continued love and support for this amazing group of young people. You continuously give and sacrifice to help make the best experience possible for us. We are so grateful and lucky to have you at our side and we could not do what we do without you.

We will be having a book drive to build some store credit with McKay's in Nashville. If you aren't familiar with McKay's, you can take old books, CDs, DVDs, certain electronics, etc and trade them in for store credit. We are trying to build up some store credit towards purchasing any instruments that would be helpful for our growing band program. We will accept donations at the band room any time between October 10th and November 3rd. Perfect time for cleaning out unused items as we prepare for different holiday decorating seasons. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. Thanks!

Congratulations to the Lexington High School Concert Band for their performance today at Concert Festival at UT Martin. The band received a SUPERIOR rating for their prepared music and an EXCELLENT rating for sight reading. Super proud of these kids and their hard work pushing right up to spring break!
Super proud of these LHS Band members who participated in the All-West Regional Honor Band this weekend. The bands performed today at the Cannon Performing Arts Center and did absolutely fantastic. We got together with family and our friends at Scotts Hill to get some pictures, and Mr. Jones was happy to see his former high school band director, Eric Scott, who was conducting one of the middle school bands this weekend. This is what your support goes to help our kids be able to do. Thank you to all the parents, family, friends, and community members who support and love our band!
We are enjoying ourselves at UTM Honor Band. Getting ready to watch the UTM Music Showcase Concert. Congrats to our LHS Band kids on their placements in ensembles. They’ve been rehearsing since 7 pm yesterday to put on an amazing concert tomorrow starting at 2 pm at UTM.

LHS Band and Guard Alumni and family members:
Dust off your instruments and do your stretches! You are invited to come and perform with the band during our Homecoming game this Friday at LHS. If you are interested in attending, please let us know either on this post or e-mailing Mr. Jones at [email protected] so we have enough music copied off. Can’t wait to have an awesome homecoming with you all!
Another band camp has come and gone! We ended our camp with a small performance for families and a trip to Murfreesboro to watch The DCI show. Even with over an hour in rain delays, the show was a lot of fun and we got to see some amazing groups perform. Can’t wait to start school back up this week and after school rehearsals start back on Thursday. Really excited to see how our show starts to shape up!
Unfortunately my camera cut some people out even thought it showed them when I took the picture. Here is the first look at our new uniforms and new drum wraps! What a good looking group!
What do we do when the heat index is supposed to be too high? We start band camp an hour earlier to beat the heat!
I want to thank everyone that came out to make our first ever car show a success. We had over 40 entries (WAY more than we were expecting) as well as our judges, vendors, band parents, and students for their work today. With your help we raised over $1400 for our band program and we hope to see you all out at next year’s event (June 10, 2023)
Parents, reminder that there will be a meeting tomorrow night at the LHS Band Room at 6:30 to go over details for next year’s marching season. Please attend if at all possible!
ATTN Parents of students who will be involved with the LHS Marching Band next year, we will have an informative meeting on Monday, May 16th at 6:30 pm in the Band Room. This meeting will answer all questions about the marching calendar, give new parents a chance to get involved with our boosters, and provide information about Band Camp. All 8th grade parents and new member parents are strongly encouraged to attend. If you are not able to, please let Mr. Jones know and he will get you the material covered during the meeting.
Here are some photos from our concert on Tuesday alongside the Henderson County middle school band programs. It’s great to see our stage FULL of musicians and such a good crowd turnout too. Congratulations everyone on a great concert. If you have pictures or videos to share, please add them to the comments!

Absolutely fantastic performance by the LHS Concert Band today at Concert Festival at UT Martin today. The last time we were able to attend concert festival was the week that everything shut down due to COVID back in 2020. These students have worked very hard on this music since January and earned a SUPERIOR rating in both prepared music and sight reading. This is the highest rating that can be achieved.
I would like to thank all of our students for their hard work and professionalism as well as all of our parents who encourage and support our band as we continue to do great things.
Congratulations to the LHS Marching Band for being selected as this year's "Marching Band of the Year". These students worked incredibly hard this year and have gotten so much recognition, not just within our community, but within the entire region. Also congratulations to the LHS Beta Show Choir for winning "Choir of the Year."
Join us next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the LHS auditorium as we present our joint concert with the Scotts Hill High School Band in preparation for our upcoming Concert Festival performance!
Congratulations to our LHS students that are participating in UTM Honor Band on their chair placements. These students will spend the next two days making music with other students from around West Tennessee and finishing with a concert on Saturday!

Celebrate Tennessee Voting ends Dec 15, 2021 Awards Event: Feb, 2022
Well, we can finally take a bow after an incredibly successful marching band season. We gave our last performance this morning at the Division II State Championship. The band played and marched their hearts out and we received 13th place overall. We had a few out today due to illness and injury and for us to still achieve at this level, speaks to their hard work. The most important thing to me is the growth that I've seen in these kids, even just in the past two weeks. The fire is lit and it will only continue to grow from here.
This picture is from our performance last night because we were so focused on our performance, so if you took pictures today at State, please share them here and let's celebrate all of their achievements.
This Friday, November 5th at 5 pm, the Lexington High School Marching Band will give their last community performance of their 2021 show "The Arena" at Tiger Stadium at LHS for anyone who is unable to attend the Division II State Marching Band Championship on Saturday. This is a free event and open to the public, so bring your family, friends and anyone else who wants to support these kids as they get ready to give their final performance at State. Our students have worked tremendously hard and the directors, staff, and school are so proud of them and their accomplishments. So make plans to be there and make a ton of noise!
We will also have shirts available for sale including Arena show shirts, Lexington baseball-style shirts from last year's fundraiser, and L-Band shirts.
If you are interested in going to the State competition, it will be held at Stewarts Creek High School in Smyrna, TN. Admission to the event is $20 for the whole day (prelims and finals). Children 5 and under get in free. The band will perform at 10:46 am.
