The Philippine healthcare system desperately needs 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦. We urge the government to 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 and enact the necessary legislation 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.

Thousands of Filipinos struggle with chronic illnesses and debilitating conditions. Medical conditions like epilepsy and seizures, severe and chronic pain, Alzheimer’s disease, HIV/AIDS, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, and PTSD, leave many suffering without sufficient options. 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚 𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞:

• 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: Patients are denied a potential lifeline due to outdated legislation. The only option to access medical cannabis through Compassionate Special Permit (CSP) is prohibitive and exorbitant.
• 𝐔𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Filipinos deserve the right to explore all avenues for treatment and improved quality of life.
• 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: Delaying legalization hinders medical innovation and research.
• 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐟𝐮𝐥: The current criminalized status of cannabis even for medical purpose is harmful and detrimental to patients and their families.
