Band Together

Band Together

Band Together is a monthly digital subscription offering a digital album of valuable resources that It’s our firm belief that everyone can make music.

This means that, whether you consider yourself a musician or not, or whether you have ever taken music lessons of any type, you can teach your kids how to play an instrument, hopefully more than one. What’s more, we want you to learn to do it too. You see our real goal for you is for your family to form a band and learn songs that you can all play together. Imagine an evening in your not-too-dista

From our FAQ:
•••••••
Does Band Together take the place of formal music lessons?
No. Here is our philosophy on learning to play music: We believe every child needs the music education, encouragement, and exhortation provided by Band Together and that not every child needs to be in formal music lessons. We believe it will be obvious to you if your child is a candidate for formal music lessons. You will see the innate talent and the desire.

PS. Today at 3PM EST join us for Live with Captain Steve. We are learning how to play Feliz Navidad on ukulele.
PSS. We are having a technical issue on our website that is getting resolved ASAP.

Townes recently discovered Thin Lizzy and Billy Joel. So somewhere between blasting “Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak
Somewhere in this town” and “From a town known
As Wheeling, West Virginia - Rode a boy with a six-gun in his hand” should we be concerned?! lol.
He has a strong penchant for songs that tell stories. We kinda think he gets that from his namesake Townes Van Zandt.
With a plethora of musical influences available and instruments to try out, he’s still figuring out what calls to him the most.
One things for sure, he’s not going to be typecast into a certain genre. We set out to introduce him to the widest assortment of good music as possible and even though his unwavering loyalty to the Beatles runs deep, he’s exploring new sounds and finds more and more music interesting everyday.
•••••••
One of the most far out ways we’ve learned about new music is by traveling this country and researching what music came from where. From the shores of southern California’s surf sounds to the New York island’s birth of punk rockers like the Ramones we’ve gained an appreciation for America’s vast musical history.
•••••••
We wanted to share our love of all things American music, so we put together a brand new Band Together resource called “The Great American Musical Roadtrip”. What is Band Together?
+
Band Together is inspiration and education, a way for families to learn about music together, and a tool that parents can use to encourage and enable their children to explore music and music-making in all of its aspects. Our mission: to encourage families to make music together. We want to help create a culture of multi-generational musicians who pass their passion for music down to their children and grandchildren. We envision fathers, mothers, kids, and grandkids forming family music groups and playing music together, whether folk, rock, country, bluegrass, jazz, gospel, or reggae.
Band Together resources come bundled in what we call albums, each with a theme based on a particular genre, era, or style of music. Everyone starts at the beginning with Vibrations—Surf Music. When you’re ready for the next step, we switch gears and centuries with Going for Baroque. The lessons build within each consecutive digital album. Start your collection today!

“If you can’t be by the sea you can still play songs about surfing”, says our son, Townes.
