Sometimes the Cerakote oven is a mini modern art exhibit. :D
A proud day, Porsche Classic Factory Restoration Montreal is using Tru6 for anodizing services for two 1970 911S's they are restoring. Going up to Montreal to meet the team and see their shop in a few weeks.
Today was a good day.
New fan & housing color, Black Graphite, both dark and luminous.
52 hours and 3 piece substitutions later, almost ready to be anodized.
These 2-tone fans and housings have become very popular. Yellow cadmium plating. Off to Canada as the cherry on the top of full engine rebuild.
928 S4 intake and engine kits with Cerakote custom silver, satin and semi-gloss black and clear. Parts cleared were cleaned, media blasted, tumbled, polished, masked where appropriate and shot with clear for aluminum. Porsche928GT
Tru6 Restoration & Design is looking for a Restoration Technician to join our team. We specialize in air-cooled Porsche 911 restoration but have been doing Ferrari, Aston Martin, BMW and Mercedes recently.
We are looking for someone who is extremely detail-oriented. Restoring 30-50 year old parts to the highest standards (a few things we are the best in the world) requires a good eye and close attention to detail at every step of each process. We pride ourselves in making each part that comes through our doors as close to factory new as possible or better. Perfectionism is what we are about.
At Tru6, it’s our greatest satisfaction seeing an old beat up part restored to the beauty it once was, and we have fun doing it. We take great pride in holding ourselves to the finest standards in the industry.
Starting pay is $15 to $25/hour depending on experience and skill level. Entry level has room for growth and pay increases, jumping to $25/hour in 6 months is doable for the right person.
We have an entire 1976 Carrera 3.0 that needs to be completely restored this summer. Every single part must be as new on the showroom floor in 1976.
Technician must be able to
• pay attention to fine details and be extremely thorough at every stage
• have patience, and be willing to go back and redo parts that can be done better.
• enjoy the process
Responsibilities include:
• checking in received parts: unpacking, taking detailed pictures, sorting and prioritizing
• cleaning dirt, oils, paints and sealants off of parts
• using a media blaster to remove rust, oxidized metal, paint and other impurities.
• Sanding, polishing, paintwork
Please send resume and cover letter to [email protected]
Cerakote hubs and studs, front in our custom grey, rear in satin black, studs in semi-gloss Elite series black. What's important is the studs were done separately and then pulled into the hubs with an impact driver at 125 psi, open steel lug nuts and a Fuchs wheel to pull them through. That the threads are perfect on the studs is quite a testament to the quality and durability of Cerakote. And the hubs are now spray-wash cleanable.
I love the smell of powder coating stripper in the morning. Well, if I weren't wearing a mask I would but then my lungs would be burned out. It should be illegal to powder coat anything Porsche. And someone thought clearing some Aston Martin DB4 trim would be a good idea instead of anodizing. Sure.
Combining cadmium plating and Cerakote make for rewarding jobs that will look and perform better than Porsche's original standards.
Cerakote and yellow cadmium, two great ways to start off a great year to come.
After a year of on and off testing, we finally perfected green tinted gold dichromate for late 911S, Carrera and early Turbo brake calipers.
These turned out nicely. Custom color I created for an Amethyst 964, caramel gold. Still have to do the center caps.
