What do you enjoy the most about being a member of the WI IAFN?

We are now accepting applications for the 2024 Colleen O'Brien Scholarship!

This scholarship is to assist in paying registration fees for the IAFN Conference. Three $249 scholarships will be awarded, which will cover the cost of virtual conference registration or cover part of the in-person conference registration.

The application deadline is September 1st. Recipients will be announced on September 13th at our Wisconsin IAFN Quarterly Education Day (as virtual conference registration is due by September 30th).

What is your program doing to promote Sexual Assault Awareness month?

The 2024 Wisconsin Crime Victims' Rights Conference is a two-day virtual conference to enhance the implementation, enforcement, and accessibility of crime victims' rights in Wisconsin. The conference theme, "How would you help? Options, services, and hope for crime survivors" will drive the content and participant engagement in this free conference.

Congress has the toolkit to get the train back on track for crime victims and their families nationwide. The Crime Victims Fund has dwindled over the years but now it is facing a nearly 40% cut. This has the potential to leave countless children without the support they need and we are getting closer and closer to the end of the road. Now is the time to take action!

We call on our Congressional leaders to spur action on the Hill and get the Crime Victims Fund back on track in the next appropriations bill.

Keep the momentum going in the work to save VOCA! Thank you to those of you who've already made calls to the 8 Congressional leaders encouraging them to get VOCA back on track. Please ask your MDT members, Board members, supporters, friends and family to do the same.

If you haven't had the chance to make calls, there's still time. No one knows better than you the impact of VOCA cuts on your center, chapter and the kids on whose behalf we all work. Stand firm in that in telling your story.

Please share this with your network and ask them to do the same!

A view from the witness stand! Past President Lynette Volkers took the witness stand in a mock trial held during last Fridays Chapter meeting. A huge thank you to Marathon County's ADA Rory McGarry and ADA Elizabeth Gebert! We learned tips and tricks as well as different technique's a Defense Attorney may use during a trial. A shout out to FNE Tracy Fremming for hosting and organizing this month's in-person meeting. Please consider attending an our next meeting!
