Balances

in life
one is always
balancing
like we juggle our mothers
against our fathers
or one teacher
against another
(only to balance our grade average)
3 grains of salt
to one ounce truth
our sweet black essence
or the funky honkies down the street
and lately i've begun wondering
if you're trying to tell me something
we used to talk all night
and do things alone together
and i've begun
(as a reaction to a feeling)
to balance
the pleasure of loneliness
against the pain
of loving you

“Anger is an acceptable form of grief.
You don't have to make your emotions palatable to those who are unmoved.
Rage isn't the curse, apathy is.”

ID: A black background with white text that reads “anti-capitalist affirmations:” “i am allowed to spend time creating things, even if they are not beautiful. there is no such thing as a real job. all forms of work are real and valid. there is nothing that i need to accomplish to be worthy. i am already worthy. doing nothing is good for my soul. i am not defined by what i produce. my worth cannot be measured by my paycheck, my job title, or a list of professional or academic achievements. i do not need to monetize my hobbies, it is good enough to spend time doing something that i love. i will not let society decide what success looks like. i can decide what a successful life looks like to me.”

Love this ❤
For anyone in the area, this looks like an amazing program ❤
We would like to invite you to an event happening this Saturday! It's a great opportunity to get off campus and into the local community and learn from indigenous Haudenosaunee leaders. The event takes place at their welcome center, which is providing free tours all day on Saturday.
We will discuss the history and consequences of the Doctrine of Discovery, and reflect upon the Onondaga commitment to Skä·noñh, meaning peace – a peace that can only be obtained when human beings are living in proper relationship with each other and the rest of the natural world.
The program includes an open house, including guided tours, of the Skä•noñh – Great Law of Peace Center, and also a formal panel discussion and lunch. Transport for SU students is provided by Hendrick’s Chapel and the Graduate Student Organization (buses from Waverly Ave. stop at the Schine Center). Register here bit.ly/Ska-nonh!
