We extend sincere appreciation to our chapter members who answer the call to serve and had a good 'ol time in Dallas Texas at the 71st Boule of the sorority. July 5-11, 2024 was an epic time of sisterhood, service, and unforgettable moments. Our members connected with other sisters from our illustrious sorority that hailed from over the world. The Boule provided endless opportunities for acquiring new information and experiences that will continue to help our chapter Soar to Greater Heights in Service and Sisterhood.
Some major highlights: Our sorority broke the Guinness World Record for the most hygiene kits packed in an hour for a community service project, Vice President Kamala Harris shared her vision amongst her sorority sisters for this next election term, and we initiated 3 phenomenal women as new honorary members.
Summer months in the sorority are for our large conferences as well as a time of restoration and planning (both at the individual and chapter level) for the year ahead. We look forward to sharing more of our work from the 2023-24 year and we are on fire to be of GREATER SERVICE TO ALL MANKIND for the next programming year!
🤠💞💚
Please join our chapter in recognizing and honoring the legacy of Juneteenth, a portion of history that signifies emancipation and liberation! ❤️🖤💚
Before Juneteenth became a recognized holiday, it was a historic event. Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, TX in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. These quarter million enslaved people represented the last in the country to be told of their emancipation, giving Juneteenth its unique significance. The following December, slavery was to be abolished in the United States when the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified.
Juneteenth eventually became known as our country’s second Independence Day. We celebrate this day as we honor our freedom, our heritage, and our continued commitment to efforts of advocacy and justice in our mission “to be of “service to all mankind.”
This time of year everyone enjoys being outside a bit more. What better way to enjoy the environment than to do your part in enhancing it? ♻️
Please join the ladies of award-winning Iota Psi Omega Chapter THIS SATURDAY, June 15, for our next roadside cleanup. We will depart the Georgia Power at 9:30AM to begin removing debris from our adopted highway. With this in mind, please plan to arrive a little earlier! Thank you for supporting our commitment to “Enhance the Environment.” 🗑️🌎💕💚

In May, we gravitated to our gorgeous green attire to show honor to Mental Health Awareness Month. Although the month has officially come to an end, we want to continue to "Soar to Greater Heights in our Self-Care." We will be continuing to share awareness and pour into our community in a way that uplifts mental wellness. As the summer approaches, we know that while there will be rest, there is also more work to do and we are committed to preserve our wellbeing, address the problems of others, and continue to be of service to all mankind.
Wishing you all a meaningful Memorial Day from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®.
Today, we honor and remember the brave men, women and a special recognition to our AKA Sisters, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Let’s take a moment to reflect on their courage and dedication while upholding the values they fought for.

As we continue to look back and share more moments with you in the coming days, one of the top moments that we have not shared was the crowning of our 2023-24 Soror of the Year, Priscilla Jones. Priscilla was initiated into the sisterhood through our chapter in 2004 and will reach her twenty-year membership anniversary later this month. She has held various leadership roles within the sorority, most recently serving as a Membership Co-Chairman, Sisterly Relations Committee Co-Chairman, Treasurer of the Pearls of Wisdom and Grace Foundation, Co-Chairman and visionary of our 50th Anniversary Gala, and as of 2024 she has answered the call to serve as the Chapter Treasurer.
Priscilla is known to always wear her beautiful smile and doesn't mind offering a hand to help or shoulder to lean on at any time. She truly has a heart for sisterhood and servant leadership. When she is not doing the work of our beloved sorority, she devotes her time to her family and career in Greene County where she was born and raised. Professionally, she is the Preschool Coordinator of the district and has more than 20 years of experience in the field of education. As the Preschool Coordinator, she is dedicated to leading the students and staff through the building blocks of readiness. Her mission is to experience life through teaching and leading others. She continues to echo to her students and staff members the “sky is the limit” and the only barriers are the ones we set for ourselves.
Priscilla, we are thankful for you!
