What an amazing day at Salamander Resort & Spa yesterday, where I had the privilege of attending a book signing event with Sheila Johnson, the Co-Founder of BET and the first black woman billionaire! My sis invited me to attend, and I am glad I took that 2-hour drive.
As a coach deeply rooted in finding purpose and living an authentic life, I'm constantly inspired by individuals who embody the essence of self-discovery and authenticity. Sheila's journey is a testament to the power of living authentically, but it took her some years to get to that point due to so badly wanting love, whether toxic or not, and not knowing who she was before marrying Bob Johnson at a young age.
Sheila's story reminds us all:
When you live authentically, you tap into your unique potential. Sheila's authenticity led her to incredible achievements, the epitome of a serial entrepreneur and philanthropist. We all have trauma, but dealing with her trauma made her who she is today.
Just like Sheila, understanding who you are naturally and genetically is essential to living a fulfilling life because it's a roadmap to your true self, helping you make decisions that resonate with your true essence.
Sheila's journey of self-discovery led her to peace, forgiveness, and a second happy marriage. She embraced the process of healing deconditioning and found the confidence to accept her failures to get to where she is today.

In 2022, one dinner in Long Beach, California, redirected the course of my life. A casual conversation with my sister's friend, Rochelle, led to empowerment.
I was drawn to business coaching to facilitate transformations and guide individuals toward the best versions of themselves while offering practical solutions when needed the most. Rochelle's response was my sign from the universe - "I think I have an amazing opportunity for you."
That moment marked the beginning of my journey with ASCEND-LA, an organization dedicated to serving black and brown entrepreneurs to provide them with tools to thrive in a business world that is very unjust.
Why does all of this matter? Self-discovery led me to accept my unique decision-making processes. Here are the lessons I learned:
1️⃣ Navigating Opportunities: Embracing my strategy, which urges me to "wait to be recognized and invited," led me to ASCEND-LA—a journey that has become one of my most fulfilling endeavors.
2️⃣ Clarity in Choices: I now make decisions that feel deeply aligned with my true self.
3️⃣ Avoiding Resistance: I flow with the right energy and avoid unnecessary challenges.
4️⃣ Embracing Authenticity: I unapologetically celebrate my individuality, letting go of the pressures of conformity.
5️⃣ Self-Trust and Empowerment: I found inner self-trust, realizing the answers lie within.
6️⃣ Building Meaningful Relationships: I attract the right people and opportunities that gravitate toward my energy.
7️⃣ Respecting Others' Strategies: Acceptance and showing empathy are essential in my interactions.
When I stopped forcing things to happen and instead "wait to be recognized and then invited," my decision-making strategy led to this fantastic opportunity! I've gained meaningful connections through ASCEND-LA and now have amazing friends and family in California. Forever grateful!
